Publisher's summary

A German Shepherd police dog witnesses a murder and if his owner - an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief - is convicted of the crime, the dog could be put down.

Few rival Andy Carpenter's affection for dogs, and he decides to represent the poor canine. As Andy struggles to convince a judge that this dog should be set free, he discovers that the dog and his owner have become involved unwittingly in a case of much greater proportions than the one they've been charged with.

Andy will have to call upon the unique abilities of this ex-police dog to help solve the crime and prevent a catastrophic event from taking place.

David Rosenfelt, a native of Peterson, New Jersey, is a graduate of NYU. He was the former marketing president for Tri-Star Pictures before becoming a writer of novels and screenplays.

Gardner and Rosenfelt, what a team!!

Grover is such a great choice to deliver the well-spun stories written by such a gifted writer. I am so overly serious about life in general that I rarely ever laugh out loud. This series about everyone’s favorite attorney, the always charming and quirky, Andy Carpenter, made me laugh and smile! Thoroughly enjoyed! Highly recommend!

Scarier than most

international-crime-and-mystery, law-enforcement, lawyers, conspiracy, murder, murder-investigation, friendship, dogs, contract-killer, situational-humor, snark-fest, verbal-humor, ex-cop, ex-military, greed*****

Take a wisemouthed lawyer who can afford to take semi retirement by only representing innocent clients while supporting an animal shelter, add in that his wife is no longer law enforcement but works as his private investigator and more and you have the baseline for this convoluted mystery. There are many other people who help Andy find out what the truth really is and make it courtroom admissible. This one is kind of scary in the *it is uncomfortably possible* sense. No spoilers, and the snarkfest keeps it from being too realistic. Lots of twists and turns in the plot and the characters certainly are, but there's no need for spoilers or an attempt at a summary. I found it to be a real brain grabber and it is one in a series of interesting and well written mysteries. At no time does the reader feel lost or as if missing background info.
Grover Gardner narrates this complicated snarkfest very well!

D. Rosenfelt & Andy Carpenter come through again

The last installment of the Andy Carpenter series is another hit. The reader Grover Gardner is fantastic as always and the plot is terrific. Intricate plot which comes together in the end. For those of you that have not read this series, this is a 'who-dunnit' series through the eyes of a lawyer Andy Carpenter, funny and sarcastic. You could read this one first but the correct order is to read: Open and Shut first , then First Degree, then you can read any of the others after that. Sudden Death is another great book

Nice easy to listen to series.

What other book might you compare Dog Tags to and why?

All of the Andy Carpenter Series has twists, turns, the occasional joke. The recurrant characters become part of the experience making it enjoyable to figure what part they will play. The banter and humour between friends makes this a pleasurable listen.

I had tried audiobooks before and didn't enjoy them. A friend made some recommendations and fortunatly I picked the first book of the Andy Carpenter series and was pleased at Grover Gardners narration. Once I finish this series i will try more by this narrator.
