Publisher's summary

The pistol appeared in his hand the way a dove appears in the hand of a good magician, as if it materialized out of thin air. "You think I won’t do it right here in the open. But you’d be surprised.... You’ll drop before you get the breath to scream." The truck driver is decked out like a rhinestone cowboy, only instead of a guitar he’s slinging a gun - and Odd Thomas is on the wrong end of the barrel. Though he narrowly dodges a bullet, Odd can’t outrun the shocking vision burned into his mind...or the destiny that will drive him into a harrowing showdown with absolute evil.

How do you make sure a crime that hasn’t happened yet, never does? That’s the critical question facing Odd Thomas, the young man with a unique ability to commune with restless spirits and help them find justice and peace. But this time, it’s the living who desperately need Odd on their side. Three helpless innocents will be brutally executed unless Odd can intervene in time. Who the potential victims are and where they can be found remain a mystery. The only thing Odd knows for sure is who the killer will be: the homicidal stranger who tried to shoot him dead in a small-town parking lot.

With the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock riding shotgun and a network of unlikely allies providing help along the way, Odd embarks on an interstate game of cat and mouse with his sinister quarry. He will soon learn that his adversary possesses abilities that may surpass his own and operates in service to infinitely more formidable foes, with murder a mere prelude to much deeper designs. Traveling across a landscape haunted by portents of impending catastrophe, Odd will do what he must and go where his path leads him, drawing ever closer to the dark heart of his long journey - and, perhaps, to the bright light beyond.

"Koontz gives his character wit, good humor, a familiarity with the dark side of humanity - and moral outrage." ( USA Today)

I love Odd's adventures

Odd's adventures are so out there, but his heart and intentions are so pure. I love this series.

Odd is back!

I've been less than impressed with a few of Koontz' Odd offerings, but 'Deeply Odd' reminds me of the charm and humor found in the beginning of the series. David Aaron Baker's performance is excellant. His voicings add greatly to the humorous aspects of the story. Highly recommended for a Odd fans.

I loved it. i love all of the Odd series!

These are some of the best Dean Koontz' books. There is so much humor & love. There's a bit of horror & some mysticism, all rolled up in each book. I love them all.

Not one of best in series ...

Love narrator.... Loved first few in Odd Thimas series, but this one was out there. Although the main character's "gift" had almost become normal by this point in series I feel this one went a but too far.

I read the series, but not in order. loved it, but I do suggest reading in order simply because book 2 references book 1. book 4 references books 1 thru 3 etc.

Should be a movie

What did you love best about Deeply Odd?

The details, descriptions, deep thoughts, adventure, and the uncommonly, common simplicity. Oddy's simplicity strikes the heart as much Einstein confounds the brain.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Deeply Odd?

The Wink and Special Guest Star

Have you listened to any of David Aaron Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Favorite performer, always reliable

If you could rename Deeply Odd, what would you call it?

Savior Odd or Odd Hitchcock

Any additional comments?

It is unfortunate there are too few Oddy's. The stories indicate just how much work goes into them

The best of the series after the first!

This is my favorite of the series after the first book. I wish the complete series had included Edie etc and made more use of his skills!

Great listen and pick up on more than I did reading the book. Wish he would write more Odd novels.

A better Odd Thomas Story

What made the experience of listening to Deeply Odd the most enjoyable?

I enjoy David Aaron Baker's reading of the Odd Thomas series. He's great.

Have you listened to any of David Aaron Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all of the Odd Thomas audiobooks. His reading is flawless.

If you could take any character from Deeply Odd out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Edie. She's a character with mystical talents, she's interesting and young at heart.

Any additional comments?

I agree with other reviews. This book was better than the last two Odd books. I also agree that Dean Koontz spreads his philosophy a bit much in this one. A little goes a long way. AnnaMarie is a mystery that has gone on too long. Will the poor woman never have that baby and what is that all about. I was pleased at the hint that Odd will go back to his roots in the next book (possibly). I miss all the characters that live in Pico Mundo. Even with that, the story was good, with a satisfying ending.
