Publisher's summary

Iris - the narrator and heroine - guides the listener through 24 episodes from her life, pausing now and then for meditations on love; sex; work; loneliness; insomnia; arctic exploration; cannibalism; the Higgs boson; Greek mythology; memory; costumes parties; time travel; Rocky and Rocky II, V, IV, VI, and III, respectively; literary immortality; real estate trends; and growing up and growing old. Evoking the screwball heroines of a bygone era, as she often finds herself a little lost in her own, Iris ventures blithely into the future, and Smyles collects the flotsam of her past. An encyclopedic, absurd, lyrical, and louche picaresque about that awkward age - between birth and death - when you feel like you don't know at all what you're doing.

Essential read for aimless twenty somethings

Iris Smyles turns the hopeless and hapless into hilarious. She does what all great artists do: give meaning to suffering. Strongly recommend!

Going it alone has never been so much fun!

Iris is a must read, must listen to personality. We've all been there with one inside you and the ex's lurking in your mind while really your just trying to enjoy being alone. As she tries, like we all do to please her supportive parents of a different era when relationships lingered to golden anniversaries or at least sliver. She try is right just travel and you will find yourself through the lens of those closer to the end. They are a mirror and still at it, not like those ex's we leave behind as we go it alone exactly where they need to be in the past.

Thank you Iris for telling like it is, was and will be, where are we headed next, can't wait?

PS. I love your parents!
