'Are you happy in your life?'
Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious. Before he wakes to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits. Before the man he's never met smiles down at him and says, 'Welcome back, my friend.'
In this world he's woken up to, Jason's life is not the one he knows. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born. And Jason is not an ordinary college physics professor but a celebrated genius who has achieved something remarkable. Something impossible.
Is it this world or the other that's the dream? And even if the home he remembers is real, how can Jason possibly make it back to the family he loves? The answers lie in a journey more wondrous and horrifying than anything he could've imagined - one that will force him to confront the darkest parts of himself even as he battles a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe.
From the author of the best-selling Wayward Pines trilogy, Dark Matter is a brilliantly plotted tale that is at once sweeping and intimate, mind-bendingly strange and profoundly human - a relentlessly surprising thriller about choices, paths not taken, and how far we'll go to claim the lives we dream of.

"Very good concept - well read"
Interest thriller about how multiple universes connect and the interaction between them. The main character sometimes seems to be a bit dim for an award winning physicist, I think that shows how involved you get in the story though.
All in all a cracking listen and good story to boot!
"Best download of 2016"
Gripping, ingenious, entertaining.
The disorientation of the main character when transported to an alternate world was handled brilliantly.
Great performance. had to be as the book is written from a first person point of view. Ably mimicked the other characters well enough to get a sense of their personalities as written.
Absolutely. Couldn't get enough.
Wonderfully entertaining listen that sets the imagination on fire with the possibilities of alternate universe’s and the path one’s life could take if different decisions are made. Highly recommended.
"..if you like string theory, scifi...and what if ?"
After a few books from b crouch I sense his fascinations...and they are all in this book too...however it's a fresh take and another facet, another angle to the gem.
I'd read the wayward pines books and so thought I would give this a try, I think this is a much better story and if you enjoyed those books then I think you'll like this.
"Seldom do I feel inclined to review..."
This book is utter drivel, I don't object to the science fiction idea, albeit full of holes (pun intended), I just think the Hunan responses suggested to the situation are utterly unrealistic.
Not science fiction
No more to say.
The main character!
"excellent listen !!! "
absolutely loved it ! great story ....really gets you thinking about past and future decisions
"You sort of guess where this is going"
Well read and moves along at a good pace. For me the story was a little predictable and lacked that edge but was strong enough to be an enjoyable experience.
"More than just a story, it's a munual for life!"
Found myself thinking about this storyline long after I finished the book. Really gets you thinking ... and, if you have an interest in mindfulness but have lapsed in this discipline then it'll remind you of the importance of staying in the now. It'll help you appreciate that it's often the little, unnoticed and seemingly trivial actions and words we engage in from moment to moment, that can change the course of your life. Perhaps we really are the creators of our own destiny and are capable of so much more than we know ! More than just a story, it's a munual for living. Hope there's a sequel!
"Absolutely my kind of book"
This has to have been one of the most addictive and enticing books I have ever listened to. Jon Lindstrom fits the character role perfectly and the combination of action thriller combined with quantum theory made me eager to complete. A little sad that it is finished now, and I feel I will struggle to find a book to replace this. My only negative feedback, if forced at gunpoint to give it, would be that it has a bit of a "first book" vibe. The complexity of the language sometimes diminishes in areas of the book, where it feels like Blake may not have been able to think of the right words to use to express the character fully, however, this is just me being overly picky. My favourite book of 2016 and I would seriously recommend it to anybody looking for a deep and intellectual thriller.
"Good, but in the same breath unbelievable!"
Dark matter was a very gripping read, gripping in the sense of a click bait buzz feed article draws you in, or the an un finished explanatory sentence is......I feel the performance and the over dramatisation of the story line really didn't lend to the story, the parts read by the story teller for anyone other than Jason Dessin were at some points laughable, and bordering on offensive with the imitation of a Russian/Somalian taxi driver. Despite all of this, I enjoyed the audiobook, and I would recommend but I would enlighten them about the audiobooks downfalls and suggest to read the book.
