Publisher's summary

Anthony Spencer is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption. The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to 'see' through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is "blind" to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust. Will this unexpected coalescing of events cause Tony to examine his life and realize he built a house of cards on the poisoned grounds of a broken heart? Will he also have the courage to make a critical choice that can undo a major injustice he set in motion before falling into a coma?

Great Follow-up To The Shack

If you could sum up Cross Roads in three words, what would they be?

Entertaining, Inspirational, Fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

Toss between Maggie and Tony - both are so believable

What does Roger Mueller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings all characters to life, including a boy with down's syndrome in which he kept in a real but dignified manner.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely. I listened whenever I had any free time, even if only 15 minutes. I loved this book and wished I didn't finish it.

Any additional comments?

This story will tickle your funny bone, bring you up, bring you down and overall leave you inspired and hopefully give you a better understanding of God's never ending love and place in your life.

Absolutely mesmerizing!

The first few minutes were a little slow for me, but necessary for a clear start to the story. I could not turn it off. And while I loved the story, I loved even more the lessons I received about walls and letting myself be vulnerable/open to others.

William Paul Young Does it So Well

If you could sum up Cross Roads in three words, what would they be?

Hope. Redemption. Joy

What other book might you compare Cross Roads to and why?

It follows on the idea of the Shack. It has a bit of the elsewhereness of The Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia.

Which character – as performed by Roger Mueller – was your favorite?

Young developed the character of Maggie most completely. He was able to tell the story from her point of view so well. She got an assignment (from God) and she carried it out.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Young's style is emotionally evocative. I laughed, I CRIED! I enjoyed.

Any additional comments?

Young does many remarkable things in this enjoyable book. He clarifies some hard to understand ideas in Christian doctrine. He makes it possible for hurting souls to open to God. He does an amazing job of presenting the inner world of a child with Down's Syndrome. Every reader with an imagination, a liking for the spiritual side of life and a sense that more might be happening when a person i sin a coma will find this a great read or listen. Mueller does a credible job reading the story. His vocalizations add to the flow.

Another great work by Young

I didn’t think anything could match the awesome story of The Shack, but Cross Roads has delivered! The journey within is absolutely worth it!
