Publisher's summary

Anthony Spencer is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption. The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to 'see' through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is "blind" to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust. Will this unexpected coalescing of events cause Tony to examine his life and realize he built a house of cards on the poisoned grounds of a broken heart? Will he also have the courage to make a critical choice that can undo a major injustice he set in motion before falling into a coma?

Another great one from Paul Young

I found this book to be thought-provoking exploration into the landscape of the main character's soul. Young's uncanny way of vividly explaining the unexplainable is exceptional.

There are elements in this book that remind me of 'The Shack' but this title stands on it's own.

David Mississippi

Captivating, amazing, intriguing, insightful... All words too weak. Wonderfully demonstrates loving kindness of God! Wish every person could read this one. I loved The Shack but this one blew me away. Narrator was awesome!

I fell in love with fiction again

This is absolutely the best fiction I have read in my lifetime. The story line was never dull and the characters were full of life and dimension. I was unable to put this book down and found myself falling in love with fiction again.

Worth the read

Good, but not as good as "The Shack". Since I'm comparing this to "The Shack", this is a similar kind of story, but from a different perspective. This story was written from the point of view of a very unlikable protagonist. Ideas introduced in "The Shack", were carried forward with consistency.

Read twice, listened twice...

because it is uplifting for me to revisit the imagery of the other side of this temporary reality.

"So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Equally as brilliant as The Shack

Excellent and fully unique story—with insights on how God can work in and through (lots of extremely different) people.

A deep and compelling—helped me see outside my gloomy box of preconceptions.

Also, highly recommend this book to anyone who has loved ones facing Alzheimer’s or other memory issues. There’s a great chapter that deals with this topic.

Modern Day "Pilgram's Progress"

What made the experience of listening to Cross Roads the most enjoyable?

The gentleman reading the book used great inflection

What other book might you compare Cross Roads to and why?

Pilgram's Progress

Which character – as performed by Roger Mueller – was your favorite?

Tony - I could relate to some of his struggles

If you could take any character from Cross Roads out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Jake - I would like to learn about his life and how he came to know Jesus and Grandmother

Any additional comments?

This is a really good book - the first part of chapter 5 dealing with community is a great way to see our relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Chapter 13 addes some great in-site as well.
