Publisher's summary

Sasha Campbell’s sizzling debut follows Nikki Truth, a radio talk show host who has no trouble dishing out relationship advice on the air, yet can’t seem to follow that advice in her own life. With Nikki’s marriage on the rocks and her husband overseas, her best friend Trinette urges her to seek happiness elsewhere. But once Nikki realizes she’s not ready to move on, she may have already lost her husband for good.

A great book

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was great to go from hating Trinette for how she treated her hubby to rooting for her to get her man back. The only think I would have liked to see was how Nikki's hubby dealt with the news of her stalker.

I enjoy this author's writing

there were some twists and turns a few that were very unexpected and I enjoyed them all. the author does a great job with character development. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series I also like the readers for both characters.

Nope

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

To have charachters with some character.

What could Sasha Campbell have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I was bored and grossed out by the greed.

What didn’t you like about Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ’s performance?

The performance, in terms of vocals, was fine.

Any additional comments?

I can't listen to more - am halfway through Part 1.

TERRIBLE!!!!!

Would you try another book from Sasha Campbell and/or Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ?

No this was awful.

Has Confessions turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I love Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, and Danielle Steele; This was nothing like those. It was all about what car this woman drove, and what brands of clothing she had on. It wasn't about romance it was about status. The language was all slang and left something to be desired. There is a quote :I walk around like my shit don't stink, because it don't." It was ridiculous.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ?

No one, because no one should ever have to listen to this book.

What character would you cut from Confessions?

All of them.

Any additional comments?

Not worth the money.

So So

Would you try another book from Sasha Campbell and/or Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ?

I would only try another book if I was out of anything else good to read and it was cheap

What do you think your next listen will be?

Consequences

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ?

Someone other than a Yale /Harvard theater major, trying to sound urban

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. Everything about this book was a cliché. I was have why though the book and I already knew the ended, better yet I knew exactly what was going to happen next before the next chapter. Do not get me wrong it was an OK read if you're in to Love and Hip Hop Atlanta or the Housewives of Atlanta, but I have read much better Urban novels. Just hated the fact that everything about the characters were a stereotype like the man in the club with the gold tooth button down shirt and "nappy" hairy chest hair. Immediately this brought to mind a character from the Martin Lawrence show from back in the days or the brother name Cool aid (really!?). There were losts of rolling my eyes moment while listening to this book. And please do not get me started on the performances or should I say the narrator. They were so “proper” that when they tried to sound urban or “street” it just came across awkward. Over all I just was not feeling it.

Not listenable

Would you try another book from Sasha Campbell and/or Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ?

Not if it was a similar attempt to distort the English language. The dialogue was an overt attempt to present ghetto- like circumstances but did not enhance the story.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sasha Campbell again?

No.

What didn’t you like about Jennifer Kidwell and Simi Howe ’s performance?

I'm not sure if they were intolerable or the dialogue made them sound that way.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I can't say.
