Publisher's summary

Maggie Beaumont's luck is about to change. Sure, she's known for her bad romantic choices-her former boyfriend broke up with her by bringing his new girlfriend home for a visit. And then there was the crush she had on a gorgeous young Irishman, who turned out to be Father Tim, the parish's new priest. But romantic salvation has arrived in the form of handsome, if surly, fisherman Malone. It turns out there's a heart of gold underneath his barnacle-clad exterior. Will this catch of the day turn into the dish of a lifetime?

Slow start and mediocre narration

The story started off slow, but ended well. The main character was infuriating at times, but she got better. The narration was bad and it was hard to hear at times because her voice tapered off at the end of sentences.

Loved it! But..

It was such a long, slow burn, with SO much awkward angst on the part of the female lead, I REALLY wished there was one last chapter or an epilogue to revel in her newfound joy and sense of peace. One more chapter. Please?

Catch of the Day

I'd say it's a little bit far-fetched but I really enjoyed the listen. It left me feeling happy.

It was a cute story, I enjoyed the humor the most. The story its self was a bit predictable but overall I enjoyed it.

Predictable

Although this narrator is quite good and very expressive, sometimes I think we could use a little "less expressive". She was over the top in this one.

My first shocker in this ridiculous book was not that a woman fell in love with her priest, but that it seemed to be no big deal that the ENTIRE town knew it and teased her about it. It seemed all so acceptable!
I don't like to be so negative, but I'm tired of so many writers portraying women as twits! This main character was a super twit. It was if she grew up in a box and no one ever taught her how to communicate or when to keep her mouth shut. Her expectations of what is acceptable in a relationship were absolutely ridiculous.....I would hope because it's a story and not written after any real woman.
Maggie is such a weak character. Who would put up with their boyfriend coming back from college and introducing his new girlfriend all over town and just standby without saying a word....especially since she thought he was still her boyfriend!! You don't think she would have at least said....What the hell?
Who goes to a guy's house before she even knows if they are dating, and cleans his house, goes through his things, cooks him dinner and falls asleep on his couch??? That is insane! Then....she has the nerve to get mad at him because he wasn't all appreciative and ga ga over what she did. That is such a poor example of how any person should behave and how people overstep boundaries....even if they are trying to be nice! Ridiculous!
A lot of crazy misunderstandings happen in real life, but when Maggie overhears only part of a conversation and inadvertently starts a rumor about what she heard by talking to herself and being heard by someone else.......that is when I decided this book was too much of a fantasy to be taken seriously!
