For Captain Charles Hunter, gold in Spanish hands is gold for the taking, and the law of the land rests with those ruthless enough to make it. Word in port is that the galleon El Trinidad, fresh from New Spain, is awaiting repairs in a nearby harbor. Heavily fortified, the impregnable harbor is guarded by the bloodthirsty Cazalla, a favorite commander of the Spanish king himself. In a meteoric career that spanned a mere 12 years, Robert E. Howard single-handedly invented the genre that came to be called sword and sorcery. From his fertile imagination sprang some of fiction's most enduring heroes. Yet while Conan the Cimmerian is indisputably Howard's greatest creation, it was in his earlier sequence of tales featuring Kull, a fearless warrior with the brooding intellect of a philosopher, that Howard began to develop the distinctive themes and the richly evocative blend of history and mythology .

They look alike, but they live in very different worlds. Tom Canty, impoverished and abused by his father, is fascinated with royalty. Edward Tudor, heir to the throne of England, is kind and generous but wants to run free and play in the river - just once. How insubstantial their differences truly are becomes clear when a chance encounter leads to an exchange of clothing - and roles. Story
Young nobleman d’Artagnan has arrived in Paris intent on joining the guardians of King Louis XIII. He befriends the regiment’s most formidable musketeers, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, and together they unite in their commitment to uphold justice. Soon, a royal indiscretion thrusts them into an audacious escapade of courtly intrigue, thwarted romance, and daring rescue. But it’s the Machiavellian schemes of a powerful enemy and the wicked seductions of an ingenious female spy that will be their greatest challenges.

Story
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

One of the Best
Where does Captain Blood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10 and I've listened to nearly 300

Who else but the Captain?
Any additional comments?
Sabatini is a master. Perhaps only Dumas can rival him, but even he would struggle against Sabatini's wit. Though this is technically a young adult book, the writing is of such high quality that it can be enjoyed at any age. The narrator, Robert Whitfield (or rather Simon Vance / Richard Matthews) does an incredible job, and really helps bring to life the character of Captain Blood. He makes him every bit as charming as Sabatini, no doubt, intended. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is one of the best.

Peter Blood Doctor. Captain pirate and theif!
I loved the story Sabatini is a master story teller, and Robert Whitfield a wonderful and accomplished voice actor. Loved the book as a child and now as a 54 year old as an older man. Awesome take on a classic tale.

Great and intelligent escape.
Witty, articulate writing and a wonderful story. Imagine Pirates of the Caribbean done by Charles Dickens. Really engaging characters. And the reader is outstanding. Great fun.

Un-Bloody Adventure with Class
I love the Sabatini stories, and this one is as good as, if not better than, Scaramouche. The narrator was superb and the story is classic good vs. evil, with satisfying twists and turns.

Stipple yer jibbers,
And hoist yer main sails cause if you like pirate escapades this is for you. Plenty of swashing get buckled, sabers unsheathed and virtuous maidens saved from ravaging. The bad guys are bad in a wide variety of ways, and the good guys all probably have ptsd.
Seriously, I enjoyed this listen and can recommend it whole-heartedly.
It’s not complex literature and won’t require much thoughtful contemplation, but it is thoroughly entertaining.
