Love Bridget Jones

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, especially if you've read/listened to the rest of the series. All the books have made me laugh, and you feel like you're reading about a friend.

I Miss Bridget!!

I loved the first two books- they were my favorite college reads! This, however, is not the voice of Bridget Jones. It almost feels like one of those movie sequels where all of the actors are changed. Very disappointing.

Wish I had left it unread

I love the original Bridget books and could not wait to read this installment. Now I wish I could unread it. Sad is the word that comes to mind when I think about this story. Bridget's once endearing mishaps fall flat in the world she now inhabits. The narrator's voice has a rough quality and I found that very annoying while listening. I did not feel that she was a good match for the title.

Great fun!

Well, I know many critics are panning this Bridget Jones update, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great summer fun.

Good book...not a light read.

If you could sum up Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy in three words, what would they be?

Well written, funny, romantic.

What did you like best about this story?

Social life is changing in a very fast pace, and the story captures the problems/ situations women need to face very well. It is a funny story but I don't think it's a light read.

What does Samantha Bond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is perfect, hats are off to Samantha Bond.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

She is back... with a miniature Bridget & Mark

Not as good as previous Bridget Jones books

I was greatly anticipating the newest Bridget Jones book, but this one fell short. Although this book found Bridget many years and experiences older, including wtih 2 kids, Ms. Fielding tried to keep Bridget as the same person she was in the first 2 books. As a result, it felt forced, and was not nearly as enjoyable as if she had let this beloved character age and mature. It was fun to hear Bridget's voice again, but overall, this book was disappointing.

Good ol' Bridget, but not the wonderful Bridget I'd come to love

I don't know if it was because I listened to all three books in a row or if I really was mildly disappointed in this one.
I had come to associate a particular tone and voice to Bridget and every other recurring character and to have someone else read the last book was off-putting initially. That's not to say this reader wasn't good - she really was! She just wasn't MY Bridget.
It was fun to see a more mature but still ridiculous Bridget.

lacking nostalgia

I know this is Bridget all grown-up but it was missing all the humor and wonderful goofiness I enjoyed when I read the 2 prior books. My heart broke at so many times throughout this book and felt even though Fielding "wrapped" things up, I felt sad. And I miss Mark Darcy.

Reader is too Judi Dench-ish

I love Judi Dench but I don't want to hear her (or someone sounding like her) to be Bridget Jones.

Love her

Never a disappointment listening to these books. I cried and laughed. It's lovely connecting with a character like this
