Publisher's summary

"The city of San Francisco is being stalked by a huge, shaved vampyre cat named Chet, and only I, Abby Normal, emergency backup mistress of the Greater Bay Area night, and my manga-haired love monkey, Foo Dog, stand between the ravenous monster and a bloody massacre of the general public. Whoa. And this is a love story? Yup.

"‘Cept there’s no whining. See, while some lovers were born to run, Jody and Tommy were born to bite. Well, reborn, that is, now that they're vampires. Good thing theirs is an undying love, since their Goth Girl Friday, Abby Normal, imprisoned them in a bronze statue. Abby wants to be a blood sucking fiend, too, but right now she’s really busy with other stuff, like breaking in a pair of red vinyl thigh-high Skankenstein® platform boots and wrangling her Ph.D.-candidate boyfriend, Steve (the love monkey). And then there’s that vampire cat Chet, who’s getting bigger and smarter—and thirstier—by the minute. Abby thought she and Steve could handle the kitty cat on their own, mais non."

Before you can say “OMG! WTF?” Tommy and Jody are sprung from captivity, and join forces with Abby, Steve, the frozen-turkey-bowling Safeway crew, the Emperor of San Francisco and his trusty dogs Lazarus and Bummer, Abby’s gay Goth friend Jared, and SF’s finest Cavuto and Rivera to hunt big cat and save the city. And that’s when the fun really begins.

Goth Valley Girl releasing her inner vamp

This is a fairly humorous tale, mostly from the point of view of Abbey Normal. It has the trademark humor, but also the implied romance of the series. This one was particularly well done and well worth a read.

Bite Me certainly doesn't suck

What did you love best about Bite Me?

I loved the narration. Susan Bennett is amazing! The story is hilarious, with characters you come to love very quickly and also care about. The best thing about Moore's novels is that he weaves characters in from all his books. You never know who's going to pop up and make an appearance.

Abby von Normal stole the show with this book!

What other book might you compare Bite Me to and why?

I think it's easily compared to LAMB or A Dirty Job with its offbeat humor and human elements. Although it deals with vampires, the story very much focuses on humanity and all that encompasses.

Have you listened to any of Susan Bennett???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have. All of her narrations for Christopher Moore are terrific. I've also listened to one Jasper Fforde story. I haven't finished that one yet.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I think the ending of this book moved me, because I didn't quite see it coming. Although I understand everyone's reasons in the end, it still made me a little sad.

Always too short

Loved this third book and the performance was really excellent. I hope he writes another in the series and makes it longer. If you like C. Moore then you will enjoy this book.

Major Hilarity!

What did you love best about Bite Me?

This book has so many funny parts that I will be quoting it for a long time. I still giggle whenever I think of one.

What does Susan Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This book, actually the whole series, is so much funnier to listen to than to read. Susan Bennett does Abby Normal especially well.

Awesome Combo

Moore is a great (and clever) writer, but it is the narration of Susan Bennett that makes this book truly awesome. It is laugh-out-loud funny.
WARNING: Listening to this book on your ipod at the gym, and laughing out loud, tends to freak out people around you.

I loves me a good Christopher Moore story

I’m revisiting all of Christopher Moore’s books that I read before when they were originally released (since finding a used copies of fluke and blood sucking fiends in the late ‘00s).
Since then I have read everything he’s done many times. With audible I’m able to get a new experience with each book and find them a great distraction while running.
Susan Bennett has done a great job with this series of stories - but this one I will admit was difficult to listen to, only because Miss Bennett’s performance of a teenage Abby Normal was so well done.
If you like Christopher Moore’s writing and liked the other audiobooks in this series - you will most likely enjoy this one.

How does he do it?

Christopher Moore continues to entertain with his misfit and offbeat vampire series. This installment is largely told from a teenage emo's point of view. I have no idea how he is able to channel a teenage, female emo so well, but thank goodness he can, because it is hilarious listening/reading.
