Publisher's summary

Nonny Frett understands the meanings of "rock" and "hard place" better than any woman ever born. She's got two mothers, "one deaf-blind and the other four baby steps from flat crazy". She's got two men: her husband, who's easing out the back door; and her best friend, who's laying siege to her heart in her front yard. She has a job that holds her in the city, and she's addicted to a little girl who's stuck deep in the country. To top it off, she has two families: the Fretts, who stole her and raised her right; and the Crabtrees, who lost her and can't forget that they've been done wrong.

In Between, Georgia, population 90, a feud that began the night Nonny was born is escalating, and a random act of violence will set the torch to a 30-year-old stash of highly flammable secrets. This might be just what the town needs, if only Nonny wasn't sitting in the middle of it.

Critic reviews

"Plenty of Southern sass and rueful, charming confidences make this a theatrical and well-paced Southern family drama." (Publishers Weekly)
"Quirky and touching....A climactic ending with perfect story resolution makes this book tidy and uplifting." (Booklist)

Fun

My book club is reading this and I ordered it from Audible so I could listen in my car driving to and from work. What a great time! The author is the narrator and her voice enhanced the characters and the essence of the story. I was sad to see it end. It is full of memorable characters, family angst, and delightful humor.

A great listen

This was one of the best books I have listened to! Simply put, the story is engaging, more so than the description given. And the reader/author breathes life into the characters. I love the way she does the character "Henry."
This is one of those books that you find yourself "finding" time for. I was glad to do the dishes all week!
I haven't listened to her other book, but it's next on my list and I hope she is working on another!

AWESOME book! My favorite Joshilyn Jackson!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It hooked me from the very beginning!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Between, Georgia?

I can't say without spoiling the book, but I will say there are several memorable moments so it would be hard to pick just one anyway.

What does Joshilyn Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love listening to an auther-read audiobook because they add inflection where they intended it to be & you get the full intention of the author when they are the ones reading it. There were several scenarios that I think I interpreted just the way Joshilyn Jackson intended, but may not have had I read the book myself.

If you could rename Between, Georgia, what would you call it?

Noni Frett

Just what I needed

It was a fun, funny departure from sad books.....and having the author read it herself was a real treat......

enjoyed this one

I really enjoyed this but some of the voices creeped me out a little 😆. I would recommend to others and I am glad I listened to it. I don't know if I would have enjoyed the story if I had read it.

Total Perfection

What a talent!!! As an author, Joshilyn Jackson has written a wonderfully-crafted novel with a rich story line populated with wonderfully-deep southern characters. She then brings the book to life with the character-narration skills of a Scott Brick.

Great listen.

I really liked this book. It is very similar to Jackson's "Gods in Alabama" but good enough to forgive and forget that. Great characters, lots to keep one interested and good narration. Only complaint is I don't think the sex scenes need to be explicit. There is only a couple but still.
