Publisher's Summary

Faith Madison has enjoyed the good life as the wife of a successful Manhattan investment banker and mother to two grown daughters. But every step of the way she has carried within her a secret she could divulge to no one.

The sudden death of her stepfather will touch off a journey of change and revelation. At the funeral, painful memories flood back - and an old friend reenters Faith's life. Brad Patterson was her brother Jack's best friend: a lanky boy who protected Faith when, as kids, they fancied themselves "The Three Musketeers." When Jack died years later, Faith and Brad came together in their shared grief, only to lose touch again.

Brad has reentered Faith's life as she is making a decision that plunges her marriage into crisis. Determined to fill a long-held desire for a career of her own, Faith applies to law school against her husband's wishes, igniting anger and recrimination. Faith's only solace is her newfound e-mail correspondence with Brad, who is trapped in an empty marriage of his own. As these two childhood friends rediscover each other, Faith and Brad will find the courage to make decisions they should have made years before, and Faith will take the most painful step of all - sharing a haunting secret and opening her heart for the first time in her life.

With unerring insight into the hearts of husbands and wives, lovers and families, Danielle Steel tells a moving story about the secrets that wound and the choices that heal.

"Solid, enjoyable and very Danielle Steele"

The characters are very believeable and Ms Steele makes you care about them as always. It is almost like taking a page out of reality as you travel with them through their struggles and joys. Good read!

"Come on Danielle, You can Do Better"

All of Danielle's books tend to be pretty sappy but still entertaining and good for light listening. But Answered Prayers is just too sappy and very repeatitive. We are adults Danielle, you don't have to tell us the same thing over and over and over. Nothing new to the plot, very predictable. I'd pass on this one.

    "repetetive and one dimensional."

It's a typical Danielle Steel story of a weak woman who makes it through in the end. My issue with DS books is that she creates such one dimensional characters. They just keeping hitting you over the head with the same, tiresome behavior. We get it--the husband is "behaves badly...is cold....etc, "it was a blessing...a gift..." blah blah. It's just so boring to read! She also likes say the same thing over and over again, without even trying to change the language. It's kind of ridiculous. At the same time, if you're looking for a completely mindless book to waste time with, read on.......

    Story
    "Weak"

I agree with many of the other reviews... it drags and repeats the same thing over and over. I am a big DS fan and am used to her repetitive way of writing but this has me wanting to scream "I GET IT!" I like to multitask when listening so I don't mind her usually repetitive style but this story is especially slow and excessively redundant, even for Steel. I agree with the reviewer who said this would be an hour long recording if you removed all the redundancy. I am more than halfway through and barely anything has happened. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

    "Not good..."

I was so bored with this book, I didn't even finish it and I usually love Danielle Steel, face it, writes a lot of fluff, which I usually enjoy.

"Did Not want to Put It Down"

This book kept my interest, I got so involved in it, I didn't want to put it down, so I listened to half of it one night, and got up the next morning, I was glad when the wife finally stood up for herself, and the husband was just a super cold nobody...it's a keeper.

    "OK.... We get it!"

If you eliminted all the redundancies in this book it could probably be read in less than an hour. And why does Faith have to be such a weak pathetic character? Even when faced with the truth about her husband she doesn't want to leave him. This woman is totally incapable of feeling angry, just constantly blaming herself for all the trouble in her life. Great heroine, wonderful role model, Danielle! And why do all the "good" characters have to be thin?
