Extraordinary

Where does An Echo in the Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's part 2 of the trilogy "Mark of the Lion" by Francine Rivers and is on my top ten list.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hadassah was my favorite character. She had an incredible ability to forgive and love others in spite of their cruelty toward her. No human being could actually be as humble as she was portrayed. I was enthralled with Richard Ferrone's narration. He managed to change her voice from the sweet soft innocent girl's voice to one whose vocals cords had been almost ripped apart and damaged after her attack. It was genius because he somehow kept her esscence even though her voice is as rough as sandpaper! It's amazing to compare her voice from the first book to this one.

Which character – as performed by Richard Ferrone – was your favorite?

Richard Ferrone makes every single character distinct. My favorite was the Arab servant, Rasheed. He was fierce and wonderful to listen to. I felt the cold blooded anger in his voice. He even frightened me!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Definitely. I played it every free chance I had.

Any additional comments?

I'd recommend this audio book to anyone who loves great historical writing, depth of characters, and the lush and wonderful voice of Richard Ferrone. You should start with the first book in the trilogy, A Voice in the Wind, to really appreciate this story.

Phenomenal Book!!

I cannot adequately express how much I love this series. I have listened to the trilogy through twice - that's how much I love it. Rarely do fiction books spur you to be a better Christian and encourage you to love people more deeply with the love of Christ - this series does just that.

Oh so wonderful!

I was so sad when I finished it. I read the books out of order (not knowing at first that it was a series) by reading the 3rd book first(As Sure as the Dawn) and then the first (A Voice in the Wind) I didnt think I would have any interest in the 2nd one (An Echo in the Darkness)since I knew how the story started and ended. Boy was I wrong. I think this one was probably my favorite. Beautifully written.

Perfect

Beautiful performance and a beautiful story. One feels as if one is present in all of it. It is a powerful story of love and redemption in the midst of great evil and depravity. Gods message of truth is so clear in it throughout the story. If you have not listened to or read it I suggest you do. It will change and encourage you in light of the knowledge of the love of Christ.
