Publisher's summary

Detective Matthew Bennett doesn't believe in ghosts. So when the spirit of a murdered child leads him to her body, he's shaken to the core - and taken off the case. Unable to explain his vision, or to let go of the investigation, Matthew turns to renowned medium Kiernan Fitzpatrick. Though he has doubts about Kiernan's claims to communicate with the dead, Matt is nevertheless drawn to the handsome psychic, who awakens feelings he thought were long-buried.

Haunted by the lingering spirit of the little girl, Kiernan is compelled to aid in the search for her killer. The chance to get closer to the enigmatic Matt is an unexpected bonus. Although Kiernan's been betrayed by people who turned out to be more interested in his fame than in himself, with Matt he's willing to risk his heart. As the two men grow closer, Kiernan helps Matt rediscover that life offers no guarantees - but love offers a reason to believe....

Surprising thriller!! Loved it!

I was really surprised with this one, didn't expect half of it. The investigation part is quite elaborated, the spoky bit was a nice surprise.
The romance is lovely but it takes longer than necessary to actually begin.

Over all a really really nice book!! I loved it!

Pretty Darn Good

I really enjoyed the story. my only issue was with the fact that the whole Police department was so homophobic.

A Rare Find

It's rare when you come across a book such as this, an LGBTQIA+ that has depth and content and a bit of a dirty underbelly. First off I must applaud the author. You took a terribly difficult topic which is extremely hard to do and made it.....easier....to listen to. A child being murdered is a jonra most people won't touch but you Ms. Copeland did without it becoming the main focus of the story, while it quite literally was one of the main focus' of the story. I loved the two MC's, nothing felt rushed it was just more of a gradual acceptance of one another and the way they felt. Now here's where I have a problem, the MC Matt kinda comes across as an Eyeore to me. Just accepts that's he's put on desk duty for 18 months because he's gay. Just accepts that he is going to be fired....twice. The way he goes about collecting evidence is well slow and sad. You wrote him to where he's almost inept at his job. Ms. Copeland you've created a good looking MC who is supposed to be a good dectective but given him qualities that are rather meek and indecisive. He follows no SOP, or police protocol and literally sets himself up for failure.
Loved, Jack LeFluer, huge fan now and if other authors don't jump on that bandwagon well their just not interested in a well narrated book.
Ms. Copeland I see you have two other books new to Audible. I will be buying those through Kindle. Hint: The narrator can make or break a good book.

Lots of fun

Although I figured out the mystery portion of this fairly early on, the reveal was handled very well. I really enjoyed the connection between the MCs and found them to be believable and sympathetic. I was rooting for them all the way through. This story was less focused on their sexual relationship than many others in the genre, but I liked that. It gave more weight to story and character development and made for a better read overall.

All-around Great

Where does A Reason to Believe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the best!

What other book might you compare A Reason to Believe to and why?

I do not compare one novel with another. If the writing isn't unique, it isn't a great read, in my book.

Have you listened to any of Jack LeFleur’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Jack LeFleur has a fabulous voice, and his oral interpretation is among the best. I think I'm in love.

If you could rename A Reason to Believe, what would you call it?

The title is the author's call, not mine, and I would not even attempt to second-guess the author.

Any additional comments?

This one kept me listening from beginning to end. Then I read it a second time.

Great!

I can't believe I haven't left a review the first three times I listened to this book. I love Kiernan and Matt. I would love to see them solving crimes in future stories. Ms. Copeland did a wonderful job describing the scenes with Abby.
Jack LeFleur's narration was excellent. He gave each character a distinctive voice and subtle Irish accents for Kiernan and Aiden.

Great story, fantastic narrator!

Seems ripe for a sequel, Ms. Copland. And, Mr. Lefleur, you can read to me anywhere, any place, anytime! Great job!

Loved it!

At first I was not sure if I would like the book. Then I got sucked in and didn't want to put it down. I try not to ruin the plot for those who have not read the book yet. In saying that I will tell you that the narrator makes the book! He uses accents and falsetto voices. Yes I truly recommend this book to you.
