Publisher's summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

A Must Read Before MOHB!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, and have. If you're reading the entire story, it gives you such good information as to what happened to Roger's parents. I'm in the middle of MOHB and am just waiting for some of the scenes from THIS book to happen, but from a different point of view...

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

When the sirens start and Jerry heads for the tunnels... you just know what's going to happen and all the pieces sadly fall into place.

What does Robert Ian MacKenzie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I didn't like his voice at first, but the first time he started with the Scottish accent, I smiled big and sat back. I'm so used to Davina Porter reading this series, but he does a really fantastic job. I can't put my finger on anything specific, but I'd for sure give it a listen.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh definitely, especially since it's so short.

Any additional comments?

For sure read this after ECHO and before MOHB. It's less than 2 hours! Do it, I say!

Excellent explanation!

It is nice how Diana Gabaldon does these side stories to fill in the gaps.

Awesome ~ As Expected

Where does A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Up near the top.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the whole EPIC that is Outlander. I'm especially intrigued by how Diana is able to weave these together to form one big whole. This particular novel fills a couple of holes that we didn't see in the "big" books. I loved learning more about Roger's past/history and when reading this with the newest novel "MOBY" it helped to fit together some scenes. Awesome.

Which character – as performed by Robert Ian MacKenzie – was your favorite?

Don't really have a favorite.

If you could rename A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows, what would you call it?

Love her title.

Always a good tale.

I love any additions to the story line of outlander, but I will admit, having listened to them all from a single narrator it was odd, almost disconcerting to hear this book read by a man. He does well, don't get me wrong, it's just like your uncle telling you the story you'd heard told at bedtime by your mother since a child, and though he doesn't miss any of the points in the plot, it's still not like having mum tell you.

It's nice to fill in the gaps...

It's a treat to see some of the minor mysteries resolved in these novellas. I prefer Davina Porter as a narrator though. good way to tide one over until the next book is released.

Excellent as always! Thank you for your stories!

This and all of Diana's stories bring me to another world, another place and some relaxation time (with lots of tears, joy and relief). I enjoy all Diana has written and find myself drawn into the world's that she creates with such ease. It is like stepping into Alice's looking glass and being emerced as I sit in my own living room. Time travel without having to go from the safety of my home and feeling the excitement without having to live the dangers. Thank you for this respite. Also there is a lot of wisdom to be gained if one looks deeper.

Roger!

This is a great short story about Roger’s parents. Once again, this author has written a beautiful story.
