Publisher's summary

A 39-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder, Edward Stanton lives alone on a rigid schedule in the Montana town where he grew up. His carefully constructed routine includes tracking his most common waking time (7:38 a.m.), refusing to start his therapy sessions even a minute before the appointed hour (10:00 a.m.), and watching one episode of the 1960s cop show Dragnet each night (10:00 p.m.).

But when a single mother and her nine-year-old son move in across the street, Edward’s timetable comes undone. Over the course of a momentous 600 hours, he opens up to his new neighbors and confronts old grievances with his estranged parents. Exposed to both the joys and heartaches of friendship, Edward must ultimately decide whether to embrace the world outside his door or retreat to his solitary ways.

Heartfelt and hilarious, this moving novel will appeal to fans of Daniel Keyes’ classic Flowers for Algernon and to any reader who loves an underdog.

Different….

After reading reviews, I decided to give this book a listen. There were parts of it that were annoying, BUT - I actually enjoyed the book anyway. While I was listening, there were times when I wanted to turn it off, but in the end, I felt like I had a much better understanding of what someone in my family who is dealing with a child with severe OCD goes through on a daily basis. Strange review, but there it is! Oh, and I really liked the narrator, he was great!

Entertaining and touching

First, this narrator was just incredible. Very well done.

This was a wonderful story of an adult male with some mental health issues, and provided insight to the mind of an unusual but harmless person with a pure heart.

Edward is a very endearing character..

What did you love best about 600 Hours of Edward?

I purchased this book on sale out of curiosity. I Absolutely loved it and I gladly have purchased the second book offered here at this time and looking forward to seeing more if they become available.

Edward's compulsions have made his life a struggle that we can follow here as he bravely and with a childlike quality that makes him a wonderful character to read about. He doesnt actually overcome his disabilty as much as he learns to live with it and find friends, take chances in life and find some peace with a relationship with his father who cant quite cope with all of Edward's problems.

Enjoyable read I do recommend.

Fast paced and sweet!

The book chronicles a few months in the life of a quirky autistic. But high functioning man. Excellent to listen to.

Delightful

If you’re a fan of the TV show “Monk” this book will make you smile, over and over. Gentle glimpse into the mind of an adult with OCD and other emotional issues trying to navigate parents, work, neighbors, and online dating, lol. Nice break from all the political and pandemic drama. Enjoy.

Very Engaging!

I really enjoyed this listen. I wasn't so sure I would. The character of Edward is quite charming and endearing. He quite grew on me as the story went on. The narrator does an excellent job of conveying him. I was surprised at how much I looked forward to getting back to the book when I had a chance to listen.

Oh, and that episode of Dragnet was my favorite!!

Amazing in every way!

If you like the "Rosie" books by Graeme C. Simsion, you'll love this gem! Awesome story, not predictable (except about Dragnet - you'll see what I mean - lol!) and really brings out the feels in you. Great characters, great story, and narrator Luke Daniels (Iron Druid Chronicles) is amazing! WELL worth the credits or the price!!
