Publisher's summary

Perched between branches and shadows,
We watch, we scheme,
Fighting for a kingdom forgotten and forlorn.

Until we rip her away with our claws,
Our prisoner, our pawn, our plaything.

She’s innocent and pure,
Fragile and helpless…
…but oh so guilty by blood.

She calls us beasts,
Wicked and evil,
Vicious and cruel.

We are all that and worse.

One of us offers her shelter beneath his wings,
Whispering promises of pleasure,
Seeking redemption.

The other longs to shatter her into a million pieces,
Whispering promises of pain,
Seeking revenge.

Caught between our feathers,
She endures our deranged desires,
Our secrets, our lies,
Our twisted plans.

Will she surrender to our darkness,
or fight for a destiny growing ever elusive?

Welcome to the Court of Ravens, little white dove.

Feathers So Vicious is a full-length dark fantasy romance novel and the first book in the Court of Ravens duet. The two-part story features two morally gray raven shifters, a young woman at the mercy of their shadows, and a HEA. This world contains dark elements, violence, and themes some may find disturbing. What this book doesn't contain is a hero—because villains do it better. And two do it better than one…

Riveted.

Trigger warnings galore! That being said, I could not put this down! I’ve been in a book slump and this definitely got me out of it. Both mmc’s and the fmc’s characters are so complicated and well written. The story was great, the narrators did Ann amazing job and the spice was chef’s 💋

I loved the story, not so much the narration

If you can READ this book, skip the audio version. Also, mind the trigger warnings.

Intriguing??!

I don't normally listen to overly sexual titles mainly because they lack depth or a real story to follow. If you strip away all the sexual scenes in this book, you will still end up with an intriguing morally grey story with solid characters and a beautifully written cliffhanger. The narrators start up really bad all three of them, but you'll notice the improvement of two of the narrators by the end of the book. But I still say this book is not for everyone. You need to be so into very sexual dark fantasy romance to like it, or be very open minded to see beyond the elements that you might not like in the books you consume. I'm sure this book will trigger some people who went through abuse (sexual and mental).

A point of view I never knew I needed!

After having listened to the King of Flesh and Bone and the Queen of Rot and Pain, I knew I’d have to give this book a listen.

Firstly, the world building is fantastic! It’s so easy to over explain or complicate a fantasy realm, but this one was done exceptionally well. I never felt lost and found myself increasingly fascinated by the Raven folk. You can feel that there is still so much more to learn from this world

I don’t know why I hadn’t ever thought to experience a story from a darker, more villain centric approach. The author isn’t wrong when she states that villains do it better because WOO BOY! Do they ever!

There are trigger warning scenes, so a word of caution if you are sensitive to the content.

The evolution of my experience went from thinking… okay, let’s see where this goes, to being all in. When the ending happened, I can honestly say, I did not see it coming. I just stood there and thought, but, but… WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?! Talk about an intense cliffhanger that has left me eagerly and impatiently waiting for the second book.

This is a book that has to be experienced to get the full effect out of. I encourage you to NOT seek out any spoilers, the pay off is so much more delicious!!

Steamy Love Triangle

One thing you don't see a lot of in these paranormal romance stories is love triangles. The author really put in a lot of work to create a paranormal universe for all of these characters to come together and coexist. This isn't just some thrown together romance novel to have any excuse to write sexy parts. It's really well-thought out to make an actual story. There's an element of mental health involved which I think is a really nice touch. All three voice actors are amazing. This novel and it's sequel are definitely worth the credit. If you can get the box set, go for it.

Narration took me out of the story

Overall it was a good story! Extremely twisted and dark..but the narration. The narration for Galantia was the best among them but then the narrator for Sebian had a bit of a southern twang which was an odd casting choice. Not saying his voice was bad at all - it just didn’t seem to fit the story. The biggest issue was the readings for Malyr. Don’t get me wrong, his deep voice was absolutely what I expected for someone named Lord of Shadows! But his reading of the lines took me out of the audiobook because he kept using the same tone pattern (not sure if that’s the correct term) every 5 words for most of the lines. Like hearing a wave over and over without too much variation. As a listener, I started paying more attention to that than the story itself as it was a little bothersome.

WOW! Definitely not what I was expecting!

But loved it all the same. I cannot say how much I loved this story. My heart broke for what every single person went through. I hope the white Dove makes the two men gravel and beg and beg and beg some more before she lets them back in. The only mistake I made was listening to such a jem before the second book was released. Now I have to wait 5 whole days before I can get my fill, the anticipation is killing me. I wish we can listen to a preview before its release date

The suspense

I loved the authors story and the narrations but almost quit when the sex got to be somewhat raw and thought the plot was gone and I had just purchased a sex novel. But I hung in there and will be moving on to book two. Can’t wait to pick up where I left off
