Publisher's summary

This Christmas, I’ll be getting a visit from a man in a suit, only it won’t be Santa.

Let me first say: Reed York was never my boyfriend. He was the pen. I was the company ink. Though if you want to get technical, we were more like colleagues who hated each other...with benefits. Everything was fine until the charming jerk went behind my back, stole my promotion, and became my boss - literally overnight.

Refusing to work beneath him (professionally speaking and otherwise), I transferred 2,014 miles away to our Chicago division, and I’ve spent the past year trying to remember how much I hated his pantie-melting smirk so I can forget how much I secretly loved the way his ocean eyes lit every time I walked into the room.

But he’s just announced a last-minute site visit the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and on top of that, he’s audaciously designated me as his "right-hand gal" during his visit. If he thinks he has a snowball’s chance in this hell at getting back in my good graces, he’s got another thing coming.

Reed York might be a man used to getting everything he’s ever wanted, but Joa Jolivet is a woman who never forgets. He can put me on his Christmas list all he wants, but everyone knows naughty boys only get coal.

Great book - dual narration would made it better

See above opinion - NOT criticism to Mr. McAllistet, who did a great job. J
Ust that a female voice for the f. POV would have been nice.

Not bad but had a hard time with narrator

Not a bad second chance romance. It did bounce around a lot but the issue I had was distinguishing between the two voices and that's due to the narrator and maybe the author could have titled the chapters as the voices changed?

Ok.

This novel is called The Executive on Amazon’s Kindle and EXMAS on Audible. It’s my first novel by this author.

It’s a second chance romance written with some back and forth between the past and the present. Interestingly, the author’s note in the beginning gives the reader/listener the option of skipping the sections set in the past as the balance of the story flows fine without the past. I chose to listen to the whole story.

The story takes place in a then and now format. I liked the heroine from the start, but for a lot of the book, I didn’t like the hero. In regard to the past romance, I needed more build-up to the first kiss that led to the couple’s physical relationship. I think that’s because the hero was portrayed as a man who closed himself off emotionally from the heroine. She on the other hand, was an open book to him. In the present, he’s pursuing her, hoping to win her back. He had some grovelling to do as far as I was concerned.

When the hero’s reasons and motivations for his past behaviour were revealed, it all made sense and I was happy this couple united, but I wished I’d known some personal details earlier so I could sympathise with the hero sooner. When the hero showed his vulnerability and emotion, it was heart-warming.

Overall, this romance was OK.

Logan McAllister is a great narrator, but the story is told from dual points of view. I sometimes had to check whose point of view I was hearing. I feel in this case the audio needed a female narrator for the heroine’s point of view. But that’s just me. It was still fine with one narrator.

Enjoyable

if you like Winter Renshaw, you will like this story. I had a hard time with the narrator. His voice is nice, but he doesn't do a good female voice. It was hard to relate to the female character with his narration.

Long twisty journey, but worth it!

Reed is both peek and Valley. This story is composed of current day time lines with flash backs to almost every chapter. It sounds way more complicated than it is. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me,it works. My heart went out to Reed for so many reasons, he will definitely give you the feels. Logan was fabulous as always! He voices so many characters in a way that allows you to get lost in sorry. 👍

no

Couldn't event make it through 10 minutes because the male narrator's voice was just not believable as a female. Did not work AT ALL.

Exmas

I found this book a little confusing and quit after the first couple of hours, I will try again at a later date. Logan McAllister did a good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Huh?!

I was lost after thirty minutes listening to this story. I didn’t even know or understand the story. I got lost and lose interest so I gave up. The narrator was good but I didn’t know where the story was going. Weird.
