Publisher's summary

Everything to Lose pits New Mexico homicide detectives Barbara Lassiter and Susan Martinez against a duo of mass murderers terrorizing Albuquerque, New Mexico…and then their arch-nemesis, Lisa French, targets the detectives for murder.

In this fourth book in his Lassiter/Martinez Case Files series, award-winning and Amazon number one best-selling author Joseph Badal brings back his female detectives as they investigate a series of murders in the Albuquerque area. Inspired by actual events, Everything to Lose is an edge-of-the-seat thriller built on a foundation of characters from previous books in the series, including Lisa French, a psychopathic murderer in her own right.

This take-your-breath-away story will put you on a thrill ride of tension, misdirection, and surprise within the backdrop of New Mexico’s majestic landscape and unique culture. Barbara Lassiter and Susan Martinez, savvy ladies with real life personas, are the best female detective duo since Cagney and Lacey. They will have you begging for more of their exploits.

“Set against the stark beauty of New Mexico, Everything to Lose is gripping, compelling, and at times, just plain fun.” (Paul Kemprecos, number one New York Times best-selling author)

Thrilling and entertaining

Everything to Lose is the fourth excellent audiobook in the Lassiter and Martinez Series of engaging mystery thrillers by award-winning and Amazon number one best-selling author Joseph Badal.

In this installment, we see the return of New Mexico homicide detectives Barbara Lassiter and Susan Martinez as they investigate a series of killings terrorizing the peaceful people of Albuquerque, New Mexico. As if this wasn’t enough, one of their most ruthless enemies makes a comeback, planning to settle some old scores.

The writing is good, and the story is entertaining, especially since it’s inspired by actual events. Having listened to the first audiobook in this series a few years ago, it was a nice reunion with these sharply drawn characters.

The audiobook version of Everything to Lose is a little over 10 hours long and is flawlessly performed by former 747 captain, multi-award-winning SAG/AFTRA narrator, and voice actor Pamela Almand. She remains one of my favorite narrators in the audiobook industry, consistently delivering entertaining, engaging, and immersive productions.

I highly recommend Everything to Lose to those looking for a gripping, compelling, and fun mystery thriller audiobook, but most of all to those familiar with this series.

Excitement with each passing minute!

Detectives Barbara Lassiter and Susan Martinez may have met their match as they are pitted against a highly skilled and elusive serial killer running rampant in Albuquerque, New Mexico area. Mix in an old nemesis who is a mass murderer and you have one exciting, suspense-filled, mystery. Add in a little misdirection, a lonely old man, and money laundering and you have one exciting mystery. Please note that this audiobook could prove to be a trigger for sexual assault survivors.

The author, Joseph Badal’s writing style is smooth as he weaves in multiple storylines that appear at first to be random, but he skillfully brings them together with a surprise twist. His characters are well-developed and his authentic dialogue moves the story forward in a believable manner. The storyline is richly detailed and vividly graphic. Each plot twist is unique and unexpected.

The narrator, Pamela Almand invites the listener into the story with her talented voice as she captures the essence of each character and adds unique and subtle nuances to further enhance the storyline. Her cadence is perfect for the storyline and characters. She projects the suspense, fear, pain, and frustration accurately and with the appropriate energy needed for each situation. I could listen to Pamela Almand for hours!

This is one of those rare books that captures the attention and imagination of the listener fully from moment one to the end. If you enjoy thrillers, and stories based on true crime and mystery then this is the book for you.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.
