Can you fall in love in thirteen hours?

It's her birthday but lonely workaholic Dana Watts is at the office late, drafting a proposal. The very last interruption she expects comes in the form of the most beautiful breasts she has ever seen. These belong to an incredibly hot woman, who is standing in front of her, stripping to music. Laurel Stanley performs strip-o-grams to pay her way through school. She has never encountered a more ungrateful recipient than Dana. The uptight project manager makes it clear that she is furious to be distracted from her work by the "gift" a colleague sent and equally appalled by Laurel's occupation. After Dana is rude and insulting, and insists on escorting Laurel from the building, the two women take an elevator ride that changes everything.

Stuck with each other for thirteen long hours after the elevator breaks down, they discover how wrong first impressions can be and how right two strangers can feel together. Can everything change in less than a day? Dana and Laurel set out to discover if their passionate elevator encounter can mean more in this fast-paced, erotic story of lust, loneliness, fantasy, and desire.

"Pretty good for light lesbian erotica"
Would you listen to Thirteen Hours again? Why?

Yes, I think I might have missed something at times when listening, but the story line was sweet. and you don't get that much in lesbian relationships

Who was your favorite character and why?

Laural, she was a confident and strong young lady, who was able to help Dana let go of herself and enjoy life.

What does Alicyn Ames bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was excellent at expressing the characters emotions and voice them

    Any additional comments?

this was very light lesbian erotica. It was done tastefully and with a very nice story line. I would read Meghan O'Brian again.

    "Enjoyable story and exceptional narration"
Would you listen to Thirteen Hours again? Why?

Yes, already listened to it repeatedly. Fun story, feel good romance, plenty of sexy times, and lots of humor. Appreciated the author's wink at the reader by having the characters poke fun at the absurdity of their "meet cute" situation. Acknowledging the contrived elevator setting allowed me to just accept and enjoy the unfolding character development. I also enjoyed how the characters talked through their fears rather than going through the standard falling out and reconnecting at the climatic end. Instead this story had a nice evolution throughout and a satisfying conclusion. Would enjoy a sequel to see how the characters continue to grow and handle middle age, etc.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Thirteen Hours?

During the elevator scene, when Dana decided to be brave and honest with herself and Laurel.

Which character – as performed by Alicyn Aimes – was your favorite?

Alicyn Aimes did a wonderful job narrating both main characters. I would like to hear more narration from her but could not find her on Audible or elsewhere.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Dana acknowledging her sexuality.

"Plotting is Difficult for this Author"
What made the experience of listening to Thirteen Hours the most enjoyable?

    The development of the relationship.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I have read other books by this author, and she has issues with plotting. I would have spent a little less time on the sex and a little more time developing a plot and creating a better climax (no pun intended). The book is more sex than story. I understand that she's trying to develop the characters through the sex, and the sex is well done, but we see very little of their characters outside of the sex.

What about Alicyn Aimes’s performance did you like?

She's excellent at developing different voices for difference characters. She may be one of my favorite narrators.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Nine and a Half Weeks in an Elevator"

    Any additional comments?

This author has so much potential, but she doesn't yet have the skill to experiment with plot the way she does.

    "Love in an elevator"

The initial portion of selection; the part where the two ladies were in the elevator was both touching and entertaining. Afterwards the story drifted into the same basic cliches that all romance novels seem to devolve into. The promise that Meghan O'Brien displayed in the initial section of this book offers the potential of better works ahead. All that being said the beginning is enough for me to recommend this audio.

Would you consider the audio edition of Thirteen Hours to be better than the print version?

I loved the audio version and I just purchased the book to add to my collection.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved both the protagonists, such different personalities but they fit together so well.

    Any additional comments?

This is an engaging book that has some extremely HOT scenes. The narrator has a great voice and did a fantastic job reading the book! Didn't expect a great deal from the book but loved it and going to buy more by this author.

I'm Audible's first Editor-at-Large, the host of In Bed with Susie Bright -- and a longtime author, editor, journo, and bookworm. I listen to audio when I'm cooking, playing cards, knitting, going to bed, waking up, driving, and putting other people's kids to bed! My favorite audiobooks, ever, are: "True Grit" and "The Dog of the South."

    "Romance with Eroticism"

Thirteen Hours is the story of an uptight career woman who gets stuck in the elevator with the birthday stripper-gram whom she spitefully rejected earlier, while she tries to escort her out of the building.

It’s Friday night, and everyone’s already left the office. For the next 13 hours they’re stuck in the elevator, and each chapter is an “hour.” Tons and tons of build-up, and finally! On hour 11 ...

    Story
    "Wow"
What did you love best about Thirteen Hours?

It was a hot, lesbian erotic novel that didn't just end when they got together. It couldn't actually end when they got together because the Thirteen Hours in the title was at the beginning of the book and really explains how they started their relationship.

What did you like best about this story?

The sex scenes were very good. Explicit, so if you don't like that in your books, this is not for you. Very well written as well. I also liked how real the relationship was between the two women. Not everything was roses and chocolate. O'Brien actually filled in how they continued to get close and how they each overcame the natural blips in the road that every relationship has in the beginning.

What about Alicyn Aimes’s performance did you like?

Aimes did do a great job at keeping the two women distinct. I don't believe I was ever confused as to who was speaking and who did what.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The only extreme reaction I had was getting turned on by scenes O'Brien wrote. There were places where she made me laugh, too.

    Any additional comments?

There aren't a lot of lesbian romances out there, which makes me turn to heterosexual romances instead. For any lesbians out there looking for a great story, look no further. I did immediately look to see if O'Brien had other books available on Audible and was very disappointed that she didn't.
