Publisher's summary

Known for making up his own rules of right and wrong, Texas Ranger Sam "Wildcard" MacGregor takes what he wants when he wants it, especially when it comes to women. But seduction is the last thing on his mind the moment he stumbles across an Hispanic beauty crouching in fear beside a burned-out wagon. And it doesn't take long before he realizes the woman the townsfolk call "cursed" is hiding secrets too dangerous to face alone.

Isabella may look feminine and unassuming, but she's hell in a bodice with gunslinging skills to match any man's. But though she knows not to give Sam her heart as readily as she offers him her lush body, Isabella is certain she sees in Sam what he can barely glimpse in himself - a virtuous man dropped deep into a hard country bent on breaking him. A man who, under it all, craves a passionate woman willing to risk everything.

Narrator's voice too deep for female voices

This book is not a good as the first mostly because the narrator's extremely deep voice made Isabella sound like a transvestite. His narration was much too slow.

pretty good

I liked the book, I was not too thrilled with the ending, but over all the book kept my attention. I actually enjoyed the narrator. The narrator can either make the book or ruin it for you. I felt this one did a good job in keeping the characters separate and interesting. I hope we don't have to wait another 6 mos for another one

Good, steamy writing ... audio, so so

Jason did a fairly good job, I was just really thrown off by his female impersonations. Would have been much better to read the book. I would have given this a 5 based on content, it gets a 4 because the the audio version.

Hot Historical !

Sarah McCarty's "Hell's Eight Series" is well written romantic erotica. The narrator's voice is sexy! but I did have a problem with the female love interest's Spanish accented voice. It was annoying to listen to.

The Best one of the series

What made the experience of listening to Sam's Creed the most enjoyable?

In my opinion this is the best out of the series so far. The interaction between Sam and Bella is lively and sexy. Makes me want to cuddle up with "Wildcard" myself.

What other book might you compare Sam's Creed to and why?

The others in the series. All rough alpha males with lots of testosterone!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

His voice dragged in the narration and I found this very annoying and frustrating. I did love the way he did Sam's voice and Bella's was ok but not great, but I thought the way he did Tucker's voice was totally disgusting. Tucker is a very large and muscular half Indian alpha male and he made him sound like teenage surfer dude! Totally repulsive. Would have been much more effective with a southern drawl like Sam's. Sam's was totally sexxyyyyyy!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but I always want to finish a book once I start one but I listen to and from work or when doing housework, so I can't.

I should have read the book instead

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The book, most likely.I would caution them that the narrators change with each audiobook and let them know that I didn't care for the narrator, but tell them that they needed to make up their own mind.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sarah McCarty? Why or why not?

Yes. I like the world she has created and the people who populate it. They have caught my interest and I would see the series through.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jason Adams?

That I cannot say, but I was not impressed with him. Maybe it was the genre, maybe just the day I listened to it, but his voice, while reading was too monotonous for me. He did a great job as Sam and Tucker but outside of that he didn't do it for me

U Are Putting me to Sleep Narrator!

I think this book would have probably been good if the narrator didn't drag so much. If he was trying to have a southern drawl it didn't work. He sounds more like he is narrating this right out of bed in the morning as soon as he woke up with no energy or morning coffee.(His other characters sounded better than his Sam one).
I found myself skipping through the story just so that it could be overwith. ( I wanted to get some of my monies worth. I probaly gipped myself out of hearing a great story, but it was either that or fall asleep at the wheel since I listen to my stories on my 2.5 hour commute both ways,so that I can kill some of the commute time listening to a good book. I will defenitley make sure not to get this narrator again.

Good Book...Disappointing Narrator

I enjoyed this second book in the series very much. But the narrator was hard to get used to. He spoke too slow. Choppy. Almost like each word was difficult to speak. The female voice was off. I had a hard time remembering it was supposed to be a female. ugh
