Publisher's summary

Audie Award Finalist, Erotica, 2014

For fans of Fifty Shades of Gray and Bared to You comes an erotic, emotionally charged romance between a powerful man who’s never heard "no" and a fiery woman who says "yes" on her own terms.

He was the one man I couldn’t avoid. And the one man I couldn’t resist.

Damien Stark could have his way with any woman. He was sexy, confident, and commanding: Anything he wanted, he got. And what he wanted was me.

Our attraction was unmistakable, almost beyond control, but as much as I ached to be his, I feared the pressures of his demands. Submitting to Damien meant I had to bare the darkest truth about my past - and risk breaking us apart.

But Damien was haunted, too. And as our passion came to obsess us both, his secrets threatened to destroy him - and us - forever.

Release Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

How is this so popular?

Admittedly, I’m only a few chapters in… But I can’t get into the story because the narrator is so dull and lacks all emotion. Her voice has no change from Nicky to Damien, it keeps the character shallow, I personable and she’s just so hard to listen to. I’m so upset I spent a credit on this book I would have rather read it instead of listen to it.

A cross of 50 Shades series & Bared to you series

Would you listen to Release Me again? Why?

Yes, Narrator was good and it's good novel.

What other book might you compare Release Me to and why?

Fifty Shades of Grey and Bared to You. These books are very similar. If you enjoy these 2 book series, you won't be disappoint with one. I think Damien is a blend of Christian Grey and Gideon Cross. He's pretty awesome.

Which character – as performed by Sofia Willingham – was your favorite?

Damien and Jamie.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I listened to this book in one sitting. It was a long one.

Any additional comments?

I did not realized that this is a series. I am glad it is. The 2nd book & 3rd book scheduled for this year. I can't wait.

Damien's trouble past tucked my heart. I am concern with Nikki's problem. I wonder how the author is going to deal her issue moving forward in the series.

Barely got through this book.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoy these types of novels more than I actually should but I did not really enjoy listening to the audiobook version.

Would you recommend Release Me (The Stark Trilogy) to your friends? Why or why not?

The novel yes...the audiobook no.

What didn’t you like about Sofia Willingham’s performance?

She's super breathy especially during the erotic portions. To make things worse she constantly sounds like she's trying to mask an accent out of Gone With the Wind. It goes in and out. I know the character is supposed to be from Dallas but still... She doesn't even use it for dialogue.

I was not expecting to like it as much as I did.

Would you listen to Release Me again? Why?

yes

What other book might you compare Release Me to and why?

CrossFire books. Flawed men who offer the world but need the woman more than she needs them... Yeah, it's the same kind of book. and I am a sucker for that.

What about Sofia Willingham’s performance did you like?

I liked her pacing and how she spoke I find many books I can't get into because of they way they are read.

It was ok

The boom was gook. But the narrator was pretty awful!! She was so breathy and fake it really made it difficult to enjoy the book. I may listen to the rest of the series just to see what happens in the rest of the book but I must say I have been spoiled but Jennifer macks narration that anyone else is a tough sell.

Just OK

Would you try another book from J. Kenner and/or Sofia Willingham?

Yes, if it was discounted or free.
I am not on the edge of my seat or scrambling to buy it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all the Blue-Collar workers in the book. LOL They were the only down to earth believable people in the story.

What aspect of Sofia Willingham’s performance would you have changed?

She almost whispered too much! Kinda annoying.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Possibly

Any additional comments?

I would not use a credit to get the 2nd book in the series. I may buy it if it was $5.99 or less, just to see what happens to Nikki and Damien.

Almost as good as the Crossfire series

What other book might you compare Release Me (The Stark Trilogy) to and why?

Release Me was a good book, very similar to the Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day (I didn't listen to 50 Shades) but it seemed almost like I was listening to the same book.

Any additional comments?

The narrator is the most important part of the audiobook experience, and Sofia the narrator is the only reason I didn't offer more stars
