Publisher's summary

The 19th century. The Hell's Eight is the only family he's ever needed, until he meets the only woman he's ever wanted...

Caine Allen is a hardened Texas Ranger, definitely not the marrying kind. But when he rescues a kidnapped woman and returns her to town, the preacher calls in a favor. And Caine's honor won't let him refuse.

From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron, and while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. He wants all Desi has to offer. He wants her screams, her moans, her demands...everything. Yet there's still a bounty on Desi's head, and keeping her sexually satisfied is proving easier than keeping her alive.

why not read free erotica online

Would you try another book from Sarah McCarty and/or Zoe Winslow?

The reader did a great job with the material. The story itself was lacking and just thrown in between painfully detailed erotic scenes. I'm not averse to a good sex scene in a book, but get on with it! Don't waste a whole chapter ( 30 minutes of listening time) on sex. I ended up skipping forward more than once.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Caine's Reckoning?

most of the lengthy sex scenes

not for the faint of heart

Ugh. Just couldn't finish it. It droned on about the same old angsty dribbling worry of the "heroine." People talk about the sex scene that lasted for over a chapter. Well, I never even made it that far. That is, they were in the bed together and I was listening, but the boredom was so palpable I had to stop. Even young adult novels are more interesting that this one. And the romance in them may be even better.
I know some reviewers said the romance or sex or something was hot. If you actually buy this one, I hope you get to enjoy that aspect of this audiobook. The angst is way worse than what is encountered in _Twilight_, which I guess is to be expected after what the girl went through, but the author could have focused on something else. Or she could have made her character at least a little curious about sex with Caine instead of dreadfully angstridden. In the authors defense though, I guess trying to write the thoughts of someone who's been abused can't be easy, but it was way too repetitive.

UGH!!!

Caine is the reason automatic weapons were invented !!!!! She should have shot him. He didn't care about her at all. He was just as bad as everyone else who abused her.

Whole lot of Sex and a Little Story

What disappointed you about Caine's Reckoning?

There was not much of a story. 10 hours of in your face crude sex and a few hours of story. The story was sex sex and more sex. I like a good story not just a long drawn out sex scene. I will not be continuing the series. I was over it within the first few minutes. Wrong Genre for me. Just not my cup of tea but thanks for the $4.95 price I at least got to try something new.

disapointed

What would have made Caine's Reckoning better?

A more believable plot

What could Sarah McCarty have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I would just say that her style doesn't do anything for me.

What aspect of Zoe Winslow’s performance would you have changed?

no comments

What character would you cut from Caine's Reckoning?

don't know, I've given up half way thru.

Any additional comments?

I Bought it based upon some rave reviews. I guess they enjoyed this line of fiction more than I.

Explicit fluff

This is best described as a sexually-explicit Romance novel. The plot begins promisingly enough, but rapidly sinks to simplistic stereotypes and a lot of pedestrian sex play.

If you like your erotica on the vanilla side, and your characters simple and uncomplicated, you'll enjoy this read.

pathetic... awflu just palin awful

I am so terribly tired of reading this genre with un-developed characters, Where do these Authors get thier Inspiration, Man, just one more insipid female/Male whining about if he/she loved me he/she could, might, should, maybe strong enough I don't want to be to strong to weak, helpless, Just plain rediculous, Gswd, enough already!!!!!!, If there was a negative 5 star with neg 0-1, <<<. Was this really written for an adult audience, it reads like something for
adolescence. I stop reading Harlequin years ago when I was a teen ager now I know why?, just awful, plain awful

Caine's Reckoning

Worst book I've ever read! Charactors were good, storyline good, but instead of elaborating on the story spent whole time on sex. A little sex is good but page after page of it is anoying and boring!

I reckon I'm out money.

Not sure why I bought this book besides the fact it was on sale back in 2012. I'm not really big on western romance books as you can tell by how long it has taken me to listen to. If you can call this book a romance. Basically this book is about a serial raped victim who was force to marry and the first thing her new husband does is make her have sex so she can get "over" her trauma. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it was just so unrealistic. There is no way a woman who had that much trauma would be so into sex. Not to mention Caine being a dumb ass, he seemed to think the thing to make her better was to push her in the bedroom. Needless to say I will not be continuing on with this series, I only made it half way through this book before giving up. Narrator was just okay.
