very well written/ read story, absolutely worth it

I'm so glad there were several hours to enjoy, easy to listen to, altogether great! I found myself engaged with every chapter, hoping for the characters, impatiently waiting for the resolution... I really hope more books come out, and the prequels are great before or after! Thanks.

Read Book 4 first.

I had started to read this series and was having a wee nose at the reviews and noticed someone pointed out that audible has put the first book as the last for listening.

aside from that, this is a really good series. it's hard to note things down without giving things away. it is worth the listen. loved it.

pretty good book

just a couple of issues for me. first, if you're going to swear, just do it. don't make up swear words. second, it was like the narrator was trying too hard at the beginning. I almost gave up, but he seemed to get into it after a few hours. he ended up doing pretty good.

good story

great story. only thing I didn't like is the 3rd book. it leaves it too open, like there's a 4th book. instead of a conclusion to the series. plus it leaves out 1 main character pretty much the whole book.

Nice saga

When starting this audiobook it apparently has a prior book in which Gage and crew fight an evil god. The result was that all gods left, Gage meets the princess, and the princess becomes Queen. All those events happen a year before this series. That said, this series can be a standalone set. The end of this audiobook begs for the series to have a continuation. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The characters are engaging and fleshed out. There is a lot of action and evil doers. The good guys are obviously good, without a lot of angst or introspection. Dialogue is well written. The narrator does a great job! I have to mention that I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an unbiased review. I recommend this audiobook.

Decent story, underwhelming delivery

Other than a few plot holes left unresolved, a sheer annoyance at a particular character highlighted from book 3 onwards and the Deus ex machina style of problem solving throughout the books; the story was good enough that by the time I'd finished book 3 I still wanted to finish even though I'd much rather have been listening to something better, the hardest part though was the narrator, I felt he emphasized to much and the entire time I felt like I was listening to a YouTuber trying to stand out where even monotone would have done the story better

Lots of bad decisions

I was able to make it through but it was a slog. I did not like how many bad choices the characters made in the story and it was predictable. They didn’t trust anyone who was on there side or trying to help them and fell for every trick the antagonists threw at them, several times lashing out and killing people that were obviously (to me at least) innocent or on there side. There was interesting lore and a new take on “magic” that I really liked but it was to dependent on “winter foods” and or drugs so they were always running out at the critical moment but somehow pulling through every time. The performance was good
