Simply Perfect

as an avid listener to post apocalyptic books and amateur prepped I LOVED this series. I have a very realistic view on what COULD happen in world derailed by losing a modern convenience. Although I, and most others, believe an apocalyptic event would at most be a month or so, this book hits home. it never jumped too far off the edge. the thing I loved the most was it allowed me to put myself in the characters shoes that "turned bad". Made me realize that, I too, would never let me kids starve and would be faced with moral decisions everyday. MY FAVORITE series to date. Can't wait to read/listen to more of her books. Finally, I appreciate the author's creative license (:

be well!

I loved these people❣️

Fantastic series. I laughed and cried. Looked deep for the characteristics in myself, that might make me stronger, better and s hero to others when needed. What a journey from book one this has been my favorite book.
Sad to close it but as each journey starts so it must end. I look forward to more journeys Kyla. Thank you for the many wonderful moments.

Action and Strong women characters

I've become a bit of an apocalyptic audio book junky so it is no surprise that I discovered Kyla Stone while on this journey. I listen to many different authors but always come back to Kyla's stories for the strong, smart, woman characters she includes. Hannah's journey throughout this series has been an inspiration. Although she is scarred both physically and mentally she manages to rise above it all and, in that process, becomes a mentor and inspiration for others who surround her. I highly recommend this whole series but advise you to be prepared for heart wrenching action.

overall, good story

I liked the characters and the story quite a bit. My criticisms would be that some repetition was seen throughout in terms of language. For example, the dog 'chuffs' constantly. Most characters had language/words/phrases they stuck to like glue. A thesaurus could help make some of the story a bit more interesting.
One other odd thing: the slow day by day storytelling felt strange. And chapters would be split in the middle of a story line or even a conversation. Why? Why not finish the conversation and start the next chapter focusing on the next storyline or next character? That seemed odd compared to most books I've read.
Last critique (sorry!) A LOT of VERY detailed talk of weapons. It felt like in some ways I was reading a primer on military grade weapons. I tend to read these types of books for the characters, the actions, the creative survival techniques... not the lengthy war like scenes, or detailed explanations about a dozen different weapons. but that could just be me.
With those minor critiques, I liked the story. A couple things seemed far fetched, but it is the apocolypse so....suspension of disbelief has to come in with the reader!

Bravo! Perfection!

From the rock star level narration performance to the characters to well everything... it excelled! All 7 books in the series did not disappoint, but the 7th is the most compelling! I highly recommend@

Great Ending for a Great Series

I've said it before; I'm not much of a post-apocalyptic reader. I'm more escapist than that. However, from the first chapter of the first book, I knew I was in for the long haul on this one. Who starts a post-apocalyptic series with a pregnant woman who was kidnapped and locked in a basement for five years? Crazy. In a good way.

These characters have worked their way into my heart throughout these books. Hannah, Liam, Quinn, Noah, and Molly. They're each complex. Imperfect. Driven. Brave. This story/series would be flat without these amazing people. They don't always do the smart thing or even the right thing. But they never stop believing or doing. All of them are inspirational in ways. All of them are worthy of my time as a reader.

As this series closed out with this story, I found myself deeply satisfied. The author not only gave us a great story involving rocket-fueled and high-testosterone moments. She gave us a sense of fulfillment. I found myself loving her prose as much as her action scenes as she drew to a conclusion. I greatly admire any author that can write emotional character-driven scenes as well as she does action sequences.

If you enjoy post-apocalyptic or survival fiction, if you enjoy action reads or thrillers, if you enjoy suspense, disaster reads, and strong characters with an equally strong sense of justice, this is a don't-miss series.

So much more than just the apocalypse

kyla worked really hard in this book to get the technical details right and she did . In the book and the six before it she does a brilliant job imparting survival skills for all kinds of situations. But that's just icing. What made this my favorite series and Kyla one of my favorite authors is her ability to make you care about the characters, and to get inside their heads and hear the conversations. In this book and the last 6 there are times I have caught myself screaming at a charter or had to turn off the audible a minute because i was some place crying or yelling wouldn't have been appropriate. I've worked as a professional solider in one capacity or another a good chunk of my life and most people who know me would say I'm hard to rattle. Kyla has rattled me a number of times over the last 7 books in this series. Reading it , you won't be bored.

Can't get enough

Soooo I have to admit I purposefully put this down for a week before finishing the last 10 chapters because I didn't want it to end. This had been a great series and very much memorable. I can't wait to find more of Kyla Stone's book and I hope that it is Stacey Glemboski who reads them. This is the way good story telling should be.
