Publisher's summary

Is it possible to create a positive workforce in negative times?

Yes, it is, says speaker, strategist and consultant Liz Jazwiec, RN. But first, you have to get real about how tough a job in healthcare really is. About the negative things you and your staff members do to make it even tougher.

In her audiobook, Eat THAT Cookie! How Workplace Positivity Pays Off... For Individuals, Teams and Organizations, Liz gets real about all that and more. In her darkly humorous, ever-so-slightly sarcastic style - after all she was an ER nurse - she builds a case for the powerful benefits of a positive workplace. (Hint: better patient service, improved efficiencies and lower employee turnover all make the list.)

Funny, inspiring and relatable, Eat THAT Cookie! is packed with realistic, down-to-earth tactics leaders can use right now to infuse positivity into their culture.

Listeners will learn:

  • How to decree and enforce mandatory fun so that it's really, well, fun.
  • Guidelines for doing celebrations the right way.
  • Strategies for dealing with queens, poisoners, complainers and other problem people.
  • How not to succumb to process paralysis.
  • Why victim thinking is so destructive, and how to eliminate it from the organization.
  • How to stop judging shoe-heel smashers, pants unzippers, and other irritating patients.

wish it could have been longer

I am a manager to an acute care unit and felt I needed some help with my staff. This audiobook did that for me. It may be a few years old, but the principles still apply. It provided me with real life scenarios and tool examples of what I CAN DO for each scenario. As a nurse, our job isnt easy, but this book will help make it easier for my staff. It is the least I can do.
I recommend this book to all in management, especially healthcare. I was so into this book, that i finished it in one day and was sad that it ended too soon.

Game Changer

I have listened to this book numerous times! After becoming a leader myself, I have shared this book with all of my charge nurses, lead providers and administration. When I interview applicants, I reference this book and state that it’s free to be nice and smile. Having one-on-one conversations with folks in the facility, it is much easier to discuss what makes them happy about their roles in their departments and to make those connections to make them feel like they make a difference…because they do, they just need that validation sometimes. Liz is an inspiration and I absolutely credit her with with many decisions I have made with my role as a leader! THANK YOU LIZ!!!

Motivational

The book is aimed at Healthcare, but the stories could be applied to most workplaces. No new ideas, or ground breaking suggestions, are revealed, and the author regularly states, "so much had already been written on this subject." However, her stories of applying those known motivational tactics, to transform the culture of the hospital where she worked, were motivating to me and I intend to begin modeling some of the behaviors she espouses.

Cookie? I love cookies!

What did you love best about Eat THAT Cookie!?

Okay, so the book is not really about cookies but it is wonderful. This is an easy listen, or read, on stepping up and being your best in the work place. It really helps to guide you in taking a look at your personal attitudes and behaviors while making you chuckle. I have given this book to others and always get excited and positive feedback.

Any additional comments?

I also love, Hey Cupcake and can't wait for her new book that is coming soon!

Wow her voice.

Nails on a chalkboard. If I have to listen to her voice one more time I may jump off a building head first. The fake laugh. The annoyance of her voice. Why did she read it? Geez. So bad.
