They have the perfect marriage. Did one of them kill to get it?

Prep school sweethearts Ian and Andi Copeland are envied by everyone they know. They have successful businesses, a beautiful house in St. Louis, and their eldest daughter, Cassidy, is following in their footsteps by attending prestigious Glenlake Academy. Then, a submerged car is dredged from the bottom of a swimming hole near the campus. So are the remains of a former writer-in-residence who vanished 20 years ago - during Ian and Andi’s senior year.

When Cassidy’s journalism class begins investigating the death, Ian and Andi’s high school secrets rise to the surface. Each has a troubled link to the man whose arrival and sudden disappearance once set the school on edge. And each had a reason to want him gone. As Cassidy unwittingly edges closer to the truth, unspoken words, locked away for decades, will force Ian and Andi to question what they really know - about themselves, about the past, and about a marriage built on a murderous lie.

Great listen

I was surprised how much I liked this book. It was gripping and I could not put it down until the end. Narrators were not my favorites but still good. I have listened to few other books that have the similar storyline but this one still kept my interest. I would look for more books from this author.v

Cold Case: Colder Hearts

If I try to explain this tale, or even list all the genre/tropes this story evokes, this will be a long and twisted review. I don't want to do that anyway, because this novel needs to unravel just the way the author intended and I don't want to give one iota away. It's mesmerizing, vexing, perplexing and brutal. Yet it's charming, sweet, and beautiful in places, too.

A great read with some very memorable characters sure to worm their way into your memory, one way or the other.

Desperately Drowning with Others

I was actually reading this book on my Kindle and just never got thru it and then I thought to seek it out on audio and viola Audible is the only place I could find it. That being said, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I felt there many parts that could have been cut down or completely out all together. Especially the ending!! How many people did we have to discover were involved in his death? EVERYBODY?? Seriously too much. This is my own opinion of course.

Unique And Excellent Book

This is a rather unique book that spans from Ian and Andi's time at Glenlake Academy to their daughter's graduation from the same boarding school. The characters are crafted with an amazing amount of depth as they go about their lives. We see that things are not always as they seem from the outsiders point of view. They may not be accurate for those living it either. The beginning was a little confusing until I took a few brief notes so I could understand who's who and how they were related to each other. Then I was so caught up in the story I didn't want to stop reading.

This is a complex story that allowed me to care about what was happening to the characters. I recommend this book to readers who like a well told story about family history and how children often possess the same characteristics as their parents. Are we hard wired to make the same mistakes that our parents made?

The narrators Christopher Lane, Lauren Ezzo and Emily Sutton-Smith were outstanding with the delivery of the story.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

I really loved this book. It was a bit confusing during the beginning, learning who was who and which decade we were in, but I just kept listening and I’m glad I did.

The characters were very interesting and the story had turns that I didn’t see coming. The story was relatable to any high schooler from the 90’s who may or may not be a parent today.

I enjoyed the actors that read this book and absolutely love when the voices switch from male to female characters. When your listening to an audiobook, that really helps with cementing what is going on.

Highly recommend this read for an interesting, romantic, mystery novel.

Narrators 🙄

Why oh why don’t they have males reading all male parts & females reading all female parts, I don’t get why they don’t when they have both as narrators?? That’s my only complaint, other than that, it was a very good book.
