Publisher's summary

There are times when sitting on the couch in front of the TV seems infinitely preferable to rolling the motorbike out of the garage for a ride or putting the boots on to go for a hike, yet it’s rare that one regrets the effort. In this collection of motorcycling road trips, garage misadventures, bike reviews, and reminiscences, I try to convey my joy of riding, even when things don’t always work out perfectly.

Although long-distance travel has been severely curtailed by the COVID epidemic, I still managed to squeeze in a few short trips, encountering some interesting roads (some might argue "unsuitable" for the bikes I was riding) and intriguing situations along the way. As baby boomers like myself get older and the median age of motorcyclists climbs ever higher, it’s easy to find the couch more appealing than the bike seat. But don’t let those aching joints and wasted muscles hold you back. Life is short. The time is now. Do it while you still can.

Great stories of motorcycle travel in the Canadian wilds.

I have all of Nick’s motorcycle books and will be ready to buy his next one when it comes out. Mr Adams has a wonderful voice inflected with an English accent. Many authors who read there own book don’t do a vey good job. I really think Nick could find a second career reading other author’s audiobooks or doing voice work. During the off-season for riding, I live vicariously through these stories. Nick likes to ride on secondary and tertiary roads in northern Ontario and to a lesser extent Quebec and the other Maritime provinces. If you like a tale of riding where there are few people and little civilization, you will like these books. These are just good stories that are will read.

Another great little adventure

Well worth the listen. Its not your world travel book but instead a local type adventure that you could easily relate to. Give it a listen, I think it's worth your time.

Another Pleasure to Hear

So far I have really enjoyed Nick Adams' writing and audio books. I've listened to almost all of them.

Too short

For 1 credit
Maybe if more titles were added it would be worth it
Otherwise a pleasant listen

Disappointing

Have you ever met someone that you thought was of good character only to find out they have some perverse flaw that ruins the entire experience for you in meeting that person? That is exactly the impression I had of this author. I purchased this book with the intent of it giving me some motivation to ride again after recovering from a stroke. It’s been a long process, but I’m finally ready to throw a leg over a bike and connect with the riding experience again. All was good until the last two chapters. Apparently if you are a fair weather day trip rider and prefer newer motorcycles you are not worthy to share the road with Mr. Adams. Only an antique, obscure and unreliable brand is worthy in his world. He is probably the last one that would help a stranded rider. I am a solo rider and my motorcycle is 100% stock. I save any wrench time for my two classic cars that are often in need of some TLC and are hardly reliable …which is where the charm lies. I was enjoying this entire book until the last two chapters. Mr. Adams reminds me of the exact reason why I may not want to take up riding again. My a-hole tolerance is at an all time low.
