Publisher's summary

The Instant Cult Classic from the Creator of The Book of Self Mastery

A bold and fascinating dive into the nuts and bolts of psychological evolution, Designing the Mind: The Principles of Psychitecture is part philosophical manifesto, part practical self-development guide, all based on the teachings of legendary thinkers like Marcus Aurelius, Lao Tzu, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Abraham Maslow. The ideas and techniques it offers are all integrated into a vital theory for helping individuals scale the heights of self-mastery and lead great lives.

This visionary guide argues that the mind can be compared to software, made up of many interwoven algorithms which were originally programmed by natural selection. Though most never learn to alter their default programming, it is possible to rewire cognitive biases, change ingrained habits, and transform emotional reactions. The process of psychitecture enables you to unplug from your own mind, identify its underlying patterns, and become the architect of your own enlightenment.

Simultaneously ancient and futuristic, Designing the Mind defies categorization, masterfully linking mindfulness to transhumanism, evolutionary psychology to Stoicism, and neuroscience to Buddhism. It frames the ideas of ancient sages as open-source code for the mind, putting forth a new, rational vision of spiritual enlightenment centered around gradual self-optimization.

Impressive and powerful build up of concepts!

I enjoyed the fact that all the inferences and information provided was very useful, on topic, concise, illustrative, logical and specially presented. Looking forward to further studying this approach to self improvement/development and ultimate effective and positive impact/experiences to enhance my joy for living! I was a subconscious practitioner of many things and it is until now that I have flawed my world view that I recognize the power and importance of every aspect that I once succeeded at taking for granted. Ignoring the practice of that which I have come to know as natural behavior to myself has uniquely and without measure taken a toll on my ability to adapt and over come with ease due to the fact that I waged my entire trust and motivation/incentives on the abilities of others around me to perceive life with a much more pure and higher sense… but to my surprise I felt offended and not reciprocated even when I saw past failure and conformity … is a slow process to build back up to fully operational conditions because I no longer have the desire or yearning of collaborating with my human family on any level whatsoever besides the responsibility and debt I am entitle to pay to my immediate family who raised me and truly cared for my well being as I have had for theirs … great read I will consider listening a few more times to reinforce some key ideas ! Have a great day and mad respect for wanting to and helping the collective achieve a healthier and spiritually wealthier life!

Material is good. Delivery is a little flat.

None of the ideas in this book are entirely new. They are, however, important. I think of this as a collection of stoic philosophies and life hacks to improving your emotional regulation. So yeah, it’s a good read.

Insightful perspective on merging spiritual work on a pragmatic plane

Insightful perspective on merging spiritual work on a pragmatic plane. I would summarize it as a great starting point to where Self development and depths of spiritual work begin to coalesce. The interface between the two of the working of our minds is the key to begin to deconstruct and construct our realities. (Or more so, our experience of reality)
