Publisher's summary

A young warrior enters a deadly realm to become the ultimate champion in the battle of good against evil in this post-apocalyptic fantasy for fans of RPGs.

Zeke Blackwood was one of the most powerful beings in the Radiant Isles, wielding supernatural abilities earned through countless battles. A unique fusion of human and demon, he waded through oceans of blood as he fought against a tide of undeath that consumed the hearts and souls of everyone it touched. Now, with the Isles lost, Zeke and his companions have ascended to the Eternal Realm. Transformed by their ascent and scattered across the lands, each must endure their own trials as they struggle to cope with their new powers in an unfamiliar world.

Awakening in a frozen landscape, Zeke is enslaved by the remnants of a formerly mighty dwarven civilization and must once again traverse a labyrinth of tunnels inhabited by vicious kobolds, indomitable golems, and a host of other monstrous creatures. Along the way, he tests his untapped magical and combat skills in an ongoing quest to gain ever more power. With each victory, his strength grows as he struggles to defy his captors and plan an escape to reunite with his friends.

Meanwhile, those friends—his soul-bonded dire bear, Pudge; the undead Talia Nightingale; and the alchemist Tucker—encounter allies and enemies of their own. But Zeke's former lover, Abby, has chosen a different path. Guilt-ridden after betraying Zeke, she has fallen under the thrall of the Radian Host, servants of the Sun Goddess. Indoctrinated to serve their crusade, Abby suffers through brutal training to become their weapon—and Zeke may be their eventual target . . .

The fifth volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Pretty solid

Nicely moved the plot line along. Could’ve done without following Abby’s storyline as she is no longer in the party.

Enjoyed it

The fact that there is a character that so developed that I now personally loathe them (Abby), makes me enjoy this book even more.

Happy Dance!!!

The story moves forward!!!! Maybe the best book in the series and no more Abby around Zek!! Man there has not been a side character that I have hated more. Looking forward to the next book and Eric kills it in Narration!!!

I will be listening to the next one when it comes out. Abby still sucks.

A reboot of characters

It seems to me there has been a reboot of two characters and I look forward to the next book in the series to see their evolution. Each book in this series has never been short on action, it just had a flawed character. It looks like that has been resolved.

Abby

Abby should have been done as a short story...rather than being part of this book. I really wish her character would have been handled a bit different. She's a damaged woman that is looking for some sort of agency...which if handled right could have really enriched the story...but she goes off the deep end rather than screwing up...which kind of nuked her likeability...now the world is shitting on her...and I'm not sure if I'm suppose to feel sorry for her...or giggle in glee...which in both cases falls flat.

Abby should have been totally cut from the book and made into a short free novel. Like another reviewer said it feels like Part 1 of a two part book....and having Abby in there feels like unwanted filler.

I'm less impressed with this book compared to the others but it's still worth getting...it just doesn't feel like as good bang for the buck that prior books did.

Super underrated series!

I really like the series and the development of the authors writing. I love the simplicity and straightforwardness of the authors style which is so distinctive from the other books in the genre. It feels like a blend between DoF and Primal Hunter while remaining its originality and character development. I hope this series and the author experience the hype and popularity that so many other truly undeserving and overrated titles of this genre managed to get.

I had to skip chapters

I really didn't like the fact that he gave side characters so many chapters I would like to story to be focused on Zeke and it's soul bond Pudge It was okay to know where everyone else was at and how they were doing in the beginning of the book but that was All that was needed and don't let me get on Abby either killher off or find some way to redeem her there is no way she should be that stupid

Wow so complete yet leaves you wanting more.

Great follow up, love that they all had a boutique experience ascending. I was lucky enough to find this work when Nicholas was already four volumes deep so I marathoned them. Then just kept thinking about the story, it was so good. This is a very worthy continuation of that story. It was honestly more than I expected and I’m so excited that we are getting to go forward into the eternal realm. Also I read through the other reviews, Abby is a phenomenal character, she’s lost and always has been but at the same time been painfully aware of her position in life.
