Publisher's summary

Book two of the Darkness series. Book one is There Is No Light in Darkness.

Is love ever enough?

Faced with obstacles she could have never imagined, Blake is brought to darkness and back by forces in her past she never knew existed.

Desperate to stay connected to the only thing he loves, Cole is forced to revisit his past and align himself with the people who knew about Blake’s disappearance.

Separation has forced both Blake and Cole to learn how to live under the worst circumstances, each of them alone in their own hell.

When they reunite, can they be the same two people they were before darkness swept upon them?

Told in separate points of view, Darkness Before Dawn is the continuation of Blake and Cole’s fight to make it to the light.

Stunning Conclusion to this Duet

“We’re just two broken people in love trying to heal each other, and despite everything, we don’t want to be with anybody else.”

This book absolutely made my romantic suspense loving heart so happy. Book one ended in a doozy of a cliffhanger, which if you know me, I LOVE cliffhanger duets, that suspense buildup and unexpected ending has me dying for the next book in the duet, getting my heart racing. With book two, the mystery of Blake’s family tragedy continues to unfold and new truths are discovered. I loved the anticipation that each moment built to what was behind her past and who was out to get her. When the secrets and lies are finally revealed I was definitely surprised at the outcome, a truly twisted plot of revenge.

“My soul belongs to you, Blake. I go where you go, I can’t live without you, I don’t want to live without you. If you die tomorrow, I die with you.”

With this book, we got chapters and narrative from Cole’s perspective, which really added depth to the story for me. And while book one was hot, this book was SCORCHING, Cole is definitely a man who knows how to please a woman. To see his true love and devotion for Blake and her happiness, it definitely had me falling even harder for him. Even with the stress and unknown factors trying to keep them apart, he never lost faith in the unbreakable bond they shared. Blake and Cole’s journey to their happily ever after is definitely a wild ride but with the love and the support of the family they chose to surround themselves with, they can handle anything life throws their way.

Meh

This is so hard, 20 hours. Felt like 15 of it was just fluff. I love the characters, although she was super immature. I won’t give up on this author because I know she has it in her, and I wouldn’t have listen to this if it hadn’t been on my audible romance package. Narrator’s were good, actually the female narrator was probably The only reason I came back to this and read the second part. The books seem to have a storyline but the storyline wasn’t the main part of the story. At least I finished, I have stars for me!

Full on journey of feelings!

Well heaven have mercy! I can't even begin to tell you all the journey me heart went on with this duet. It's really everything I need in romances! It was this perfect melding of suspense and mystery, romance and sexual chemistry, mixed with drama and angst. Gah!! This has definitely hit a high note for me. The duet was perfectly executed and the narrators only added to a fabulous story!

Powerful Conclusion

This book picks up shortly where the first one left off with very little gap in between. Blake is in survival mode at this point and Cole us completely out of his mind. The action increases and the twists and turns of the story hype up. Every time you think you know what's coming next, there's another surprise pops up. It makes the book that much harder to put down. Excitement, tears, and even laughter filled me all the way through to the satisfying epilogue.

Kyle Mason and Felicity Munroe had outstanding performances with putting voice to each character, both main and supporting ones. I'll be looking forward to more of their work.

All the characters are just dimwits ! Ruins the entire book!

I like CC books . I read a bunch of them and loved book 1, but this book was so long! So much fluff ! It made no sense! All the relations and no one can save her? Everyone is a dimwit . This is a thriller/mob story and there is no one mob worthy . It is such an amateur mob story . I think the author was better off leaving the entire mob thing out because seriously no mob is that Dumb!
Cole is the most clueless ! He never knows anything ! Doesn’t know how to ask anything and with all his connection, he is just soo stupid to ask anything ! How can you write these characters that are just do clueless to the point I was just hoping the story just ends . As for Blake , too much “savior” complex to her own demise . Bottom line , characters are just not like able . You can’t root for characters who are so clueless ! This was better off as a regular romance thriller vs trying to make it into a mob story with a bunch of fluff !
