Publisher's summary

Brady Garrett is back on Earth. He's living with his partner Cam and they're raising his sister Lucy together. Life is better than some feral reffo from Kopa has any right to hope, and Brady knows it. He's even grateful for it, most of the time. He loves Cam, even though he's afraid that he's not good enough for him, and he's still having nightmares about the alien Faceless.

Cameron Rushton loved being a pilot once, and he still feels the pull of the starlight. He's building a life with Brady now, and with Lucy. Life is good, even if it's not without its complications. Both Brady and Cam are dealing with the endless cycle of interviews, tests, and questions that the military hierarchy hopes will reveal the secrets of the aliens who could very easily destroy humanity. They have each other though, and together they're making it work.

But from out in the black, Kai-Ren is still watching and everything Brady and Cam think they've won, they stand to lose all over again. Contains mature themes.

So Much Sci-Fi Action That is Performed So Well!

I love Lisa Henry's Dark Space trilogy, and book two continues the intense action from book one. It starts with Cam and Brady and Lucy all living together safely back on Earth. Everything should be perfect for Brady now that he's out of the black, his sister is safe, and he and Cam are living together despite regulations. But Brady is struggling with his job, fitting in with Cam's family and friends, and worrying about when Cam is going to realize that Brady is all wrong for him. Brady's temper doesn't help either. But none of that matters when things begin to happen that make the military suspicious of their loyalties, and the determination of someone from Cam's past to communicate with the Faceless starts a cascade of events that could destroy everything, including Cam, Brady, and Lucy. The action and suspense don't let up the entire book, and all you can do is hang on and enjoy the ride! And while this is book two of a trilogy, it does have a satisfying ending of its own.

Chris Chambers is the narrator and he continues the amazing job he did with book one. There is so much intense emotion in this book, and I thought Chris did a great job of conveying all that emotion without overdoing it. I love Cam's and Brady's voices, and there are some new supporting voices in book two that I really enjoyed as well. I highly recommend it, and I'm looking forward to book three coming soon!

I think my "plot-dar" is busted....

I didn’t see any of this happening. So far in this series, I never seem to know where we’re going until we get there. It’s quite exciting! I’m frankly surprised though that I’m surprised, if that makes sense 😊 I’m afraid to say much else because I don’t want to give anything away. Every time I start thinking that I know where we’re heading, there’s a sudden swerve, and we’re on a completely different track. In one instance, I had a funny feeling that something bad might happen to one character, and it did, but not in the way that I thought AT ALL. I won’t say anymore, but if you’re like me, just plan to be surprised 😊

Awesome sequel

This was a great follow up to the first book. It was a little slow at times but intriguing nonetheless. Great narration.
