Publisher's summary

Killashandra Ree has spent ten grueling years in musical training, anticipating interstellar celebrity as a vocal soloist. She is young, beautiful—and still without prospects. After learning that a flaw in her voice will prevent her from singing lead, she hears of the mysterious Heptite Guild on the planet Ballybran, where the fabled Black Crystal is found. Mining this strange form of crystal is a dangerous occupation but to Killa, the risks are acceptable. Remarkably, her adaptation to crystal mining is unusually rapid and easy and Killashandra advances quickly. The problem is—few people who land on Ballybran ever leave.

Very good but short.

I have been a fan of Anne McCaffrey's books for years. The Crystal Singer trilogy is one of her best stories outside of the Dragons of Pern. My only complaint is the books are too short and Anne only wrote the three books. This Crystal Singer world is so fascinating and attention grabbing it is too bad the series is too short.

its alright, not worth what I paid

This is an severely abridged version. I love this series and was hoping that even abridged, it would be decent. I would not recommend buying it for more than a few dollars if you find it on sale. The little over 2 in a half hours you get not worth the $10+ they ask for and definitely not worth a credit.

I go back and reread this series usually once a year or so, along with Mccaffrey's pegasus/rowan series. This audio book is missing so much story, emotional connections, details of her full disclosure, the more minute details of her first crystal singing and the hectic travel back, the emotional and personal connection she makes and descriptions of her miserable travel to install her first cuts. I would recommend you just go back to your unabridged book and ignore this, especially if this is a favorite of yours like it is mine. It's missed so much.

Go find and read the books! Abridged nonsense!

Why would anyone try to abridge this beautiful, complex, amazing trilogy!
I turned this off and found my old copies of the paperbacks.
Someone, please, record the unabridged books!
