Publisher's summary

For a private investigator on the trail of a missing girl, every second counts in a gripping thriller by New York Times bestselling author T.R. Ragan.

On her first day of kindergarten, five-year-old Tinsley disappeared without a trace...

Five agonizing years later, her divorced mother, Dani Callahan, is a private investigator. She and Quinn Sullivan, a promising young assistant determined to prove herself, are devoted to helping others find missing loved ones. And for Dani, finding Tinsley is still a never-ending obsession.

Their newest case is Ali Cross, a teenager who vanished off a Sacramento street while walking home. A troubled boy’s eyewitness testimony to Ali’s abduction provides their only clues. And as their search for Ali gets underway, new information about Tinsley’s disappearance begins to surface too.

As their investigations lead down two twisting paths, disturbing secrets are revealed and new victims find themselves in mortal danger. Time is running out, and the hunt is only getting grimmer.

Narration nightmare

T R Ragan desperately needs to find a good narrator. This one sounds like she has a breathing disorder (she very well may), since she takes huge gulps of air between phrases. This is distracting enough to destroy the integrity of a well-plotted mystery.

Hard to stop listening

I loved this audiobook. The plot was written in a manner that once you thought you knew what was happening it took another turn. It was easy to follow though. I’m so glad the ending didn’t leave me hanging.

excellent

you can't go wrong with Ms. Ragan. although the narrator did a wonderful job, her deep inhales of breath did distract throughout the book. highly recommend nonetheless!

Women detectives get their man

Well read with a great story line. Characters very easy to relate to making this an easy read. Sacramento plays a big part in the story, great if you’re local.

Horrific parts

Liked the book. Had difficulty with parts that were extremely disturbing. Female detective agency that fought to find missing persons. Resulting in closure for families.

No Cliffhanger?!?!

I think this is a first! The first TR Ragan book that does not end with a cliffhanger. This is a really good story about abduction, abuse and murder. This is the story of one man’s history of child abuse and his emergence into adulthood with a very warped view about adult relationships and love.
The other major difference between this book and Ragan’s others is this book wraps everything up in the end and I mean everything. There is not one detail you can say “I wonder what happened to…” because within the final few sentences it’s been handed to you.
Excellent mystery with super narrating by Karen Peakes.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Good listen.

Count 1, 2, 3 has a good storyline overall and held my interest to the very end. The actions of the villain were a bit over the top and the conclusion of the story, while fitting, was a little too neatly wrapped up.

Fantastic!

This book grabbed me from the beginning. Loved the story, the depth, and the suspense. And the mother’s who determination in finding her child never wavered. The narrator is one of my faves. This is a must read or must listen. Definitely in my top three.
