Publisher's summary

We live in a world full of shiny distractions, faced with an onslaught of viral media constantly competing for our attention and demanding our affections. These ever-present visual "spectacles" can quickly erode our hearts, making it more difficult than ever to walk through life actively treasuring that which is most important and yet invisible: Jesus Christ. In a journalistic style, Tony Reinke shows us just how distracting these spectacles in our lives have become, and calls us to ask critical questions about what we're focusing on. The book offers us practical steps to redirect our gaze away from the addictive eye candy of the world and onto the Ultimate Spectacle - leading to the joy and rest our souls crave.

Wonderful

Probably the most important message relating to our current age. Recommended certainly to Christians and those pursuing Christ and a relationship with the Father.

Utterly Necessary

Sobering, convicting, & hopeful. This book ought to be placed in the hands of every Christian that carries a smart phone, owns a TV, and/or consumes any ounce of media.

A life preserver in a roiling age

Tony again does a masterful job bringing practical theological discussion to complex modern issues. Strongly recommend this work to all trying to stay afloat in a temptress of modern temptations.

Powerful

Liked the book and it’s thesis very much. Have often wished we could only read what people in the media said (especially politicians). Our eyes are too prone to biases based upon exterior polish, charisma, looks and just plain looks...rather than being swayed by actual ideas. Author makes a great case for our God-given need for “awe” and his admonitions to unplug and quiet our souls before the Lord are much needed in this hyperbolic age we live in.

Wonderful Reminder

Brings to mind so simply the truth about what we see around us in relation to what we see in Christ.
I highly recommend to intending listeners.
May Christ help us be more aware, deliberate and passionate about future, eternal glory.

Thanks a lot, Tony.
