The Liberal Rednecks - a three-man stand-up comedy group doing scathing political satire - celebrate all that's good about the South while leading the Redneck Revolution and standing proudly blue in a sea of red.
Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South - the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful - in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation that Trae Crowder has targeted in his Liberal Redneck videos, which have gone viral, with over 50 million views.
Perfect for fans of Stuff White People Like, I Am America (and So Can You), and Dear White People, The Liberal Redneck Manifesto skewers political and religious hypocrisies in witty stories such as the Ten Commandments of the New South and much more! While celebrating the South as one of the richest sources of American culture, this entertaining audiobook issues a wake-up call and a reminder that the South's problems and dreams aren't that far off from the rest of America's.

Especially northern liberals. I'm a college-educated middle class liberal woman from small town New England and this book called me out on my bullshit, most of which I was completely unaware. The authors are first and foremost funny AF. They are also intelligent, informed, self-deprecating, fiercely proud and brutally honest. And hearing their own voices has helped to dispel my preconceptions associated with the Southern accent. In fact, these smart-talking boys sound sexy as hell! More important, their message must be heeded by the American "left," which judging from 2016 election needs to come down from its high horse and get some correctly fitting britches. I sincerely hope the Liberal Rednecks can help pull Dixie out of the dark, but they have already succeeded in shining a light for this Yankee.
Don't confuse this book with the typical redneck satirists like Larry The Cable Guy or Jeff Foxworthy ("you know you're a redneck when..."). Reading this book is like spending time with "real" legitimate southern rednecks who are normal people just like you and me, but see the world from an entirely different perspective. If you were at all surprised that Donald Trump won the US election, then you need to read this book. This book is a must read for all "city liberals" who don't understand what is going on outside of urban America. This book will set you free...and make you laugh out loud.
As a displaced Southerner living in NYC, I absolutely loved this audio book. It made me miss home. A lot.
The language was a bit coarse and too yellow at times, but I got over it.
We have a lot of work to do and this book made me want to head back home to do my part.
These guys nailed it. It was funny, and downright hilarious in places. But it was also thought provoking and well researched. The history and social commentary is actually what makes this book worth checking out. The humor--and there is quite a lot of it--is just icing on the cake.
Love these dudes. Perspective on stuff I had and hadn't heard before. Time to try to understand each other better--I think this book helps in that way.
Thanks y'all for making a hit. Intelligent, savvy, earthy, red, white, and blue lights like soft firecrackers all over the night sky for you guys. Mark Twain said to give em hell and you're still serving it. Good job. Keep it coming.
This audiobook, read by the comedians themselves, was funny, intelligent, and surprisingly informative. Trae jokes about saving some stuff for the memior... I'd read it.
I'm a pharmacy technician in Mississippi Kosciusko to be exact and no you've never heard of it because it's a tiny town with basically nothing here. There are However a massive number of pillbillies and red necks I come from a family of them and I also happen to be Latina which has fucked with my identity massively because of the shit that my family talked about Mexico whilst also saying but your daddy was Mexican it's ok 🙄 anyway my point is this book gets it all right like so exactly correct I laughed I cried and as a southern born woman who has both shame and pride about where I come from I lived the hell out of this book and I highly recommend it I wish it was longer or had a sequel but no doubt you will not regret this read!
"Skeeeww!! The South from the mouths of Southerners"
A brilliant eye-opener about the modern South as told by three sons of Dixie. Funny, honest, insightful and well balanced between its twin themes: pride and shame. Relatable because the authors are liberals; challenging because they don't hide their pride in their homeland and don't make excuses for any of it. Now drink your latte Tristan
