Based on the wildly popular Instagram account @CrazyJewishMom, Kate Siegel's essay collection is about life with the woman who redefined the term helicopter mom.
There is nothing more wonderful than a mother's love. There is also nothing more annoying. Who else can proudly insist that you're perfect while simultaneously making you question every career, fashion, and relationship decision you have ever made?
No one understands the delicate mother-daughter dynamic better than Kate Siegel - her own mother drove her so crazy that she decided to broadcast their hilarious conversations on Instagram. Soon hundreds of thousands of people were following their daily text exchanges, eager to see what outrageous thing Kate's mom would do next.
Now, in Mother, Can You Not?, Kate pays tribute to the woman whose helicopter parenting may make your mom look like Mother Teresa. If fans think Kate's mom's texts are insane, they will laugh out loud at the anecdotes her daughter shares in this collection. From embarrassing moments (like her mother's surprise early morning visit, catching Kate in bed with her crush) to outrageous stories (such as the time she moved cross country to be near Kate's college) to hilarious mantras ("NO STD TEST, YOU WON'T BE GETTING SEXED!"), Mother, Can You Not? lovingly lampoons the lengths to which our mothers will go to better our lives (even if it feels like they're ruining them in the process).

I never follow @crazyjewmom on instagram when I read this book. It was hilarious and uplifting. My also crazy mother would approve! I feel like someone understands how it feels to have an uncouth, bare all, no topic is off the table mom.
Kim Friedman knows she's evolved past helicopter mom--she is, in her own words, a drone mom. Her daughter Kate has crafted a comic gem here, but it goes beyond genre. As the outrageous anecdotes accumulate we find ourselves drawn into an affectionate and telling dual biography--a history of an epic mother-daughter odyssey first outlined in Kate's Instagram account @CrazyJewishMom. Mother Can You NOT? is fully present in the audible version--the bonus is hearing both Kate and Kim's voices between chapters.

Wasn't familiar with crazyjewishmom but really enjoyed the banter between this mom/daughter duo. When's the next one coming out??
I loved that Kate's mom Kim actually read her own dialogue! Their banter is amazing.
I loved how open and honest Kate is about her mom and how unapologetic both women are about their stories.
Their mother-daughter dynamic is hilarious and completely relatable in its own way.
Love Love Love!
Have always loved books and I find that as I have gotten older I find this way more enjoyable then listening to the radio.
There is a lot of humor here however after awhile the mom alone issss sooo over the top it's unreal...now I know she's like this but damn it's crazy and the daughter I'm sorry just as bad as the mom.
