Publisher's summary

What The Daily Show is to evening news, The Colbert Report is to personality-driven pundit shows. Stephen Colbert brings his sarcastic charm to a half-hour report, tackling the important issues of the day and telling his guests why their opinions are just plain wrong. Stephen stands for "truthiness" and his American right to copyright that word and claim ownership of it.

The author describes his audiobook as a simple audiobook from a simple mind: Stephen Colbert's. In plain conversational language, not to mention the occasional grunt and/or whistle, Stephen explains his take on the most pressing concerns of our culture: faith, family...hygiene.

Why now? Stephen fears America has lost its balls and he hopes to re-ballify us...even the ladies. Ladies can have balls: lady-balls too. Stephen likes to call those "Thatchers". Stephen will show how he got his mammoth swinging sack with tales of courage and vital documents from his own life, including the Mother's Day card he made at age six, disputed credit-card bills, and putt-putt score cards - all the major milestones.

Funny as heck!!

I loved "I Am America (And So Can You!)" I like to view myself as a conservative (Libertarian) and so some of the things Colbert makes fun of are actually representative of me. I just can't help but laugh! I listen to Bill O'Reilly afterwards to get me back on the straight and narrow.

Good humor!

This was an extremely entertaining listen! If you like this and have not listened to "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction" then you should definitely give it a listen as well.

more relevant now than ever

What used to be an exaggeration of what a far right winger is, is now the norm.

Hilarious

Non-stop chuckles, interspersed with frequent bouts of unrestrained laughter. Stephen is a satirist of rare and exceptional beauty. Squidbillies and the collective works of Trey Parker are His only true equals. Anybody that enjoys one of the three definitely owes to themselves to check out the other two.

Hilarious! Colbert at his best.

Would you listen to I Am America (And So Can You!) again? Why?

Yes, definitely. This book is hilarious, the comedic timing is genius, and Colbert is as funny as ever. If you love the Colbert Report or the Late Show, LISTEN TO THIS! Colbert is one of the smartest comedians I have ever watched/listened to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! It was hard to put down. Energy-packed and hilarity-packed book.

OK, but not Great

Would you try another book from Stephen Colbert and/or Stephen Colbert?

Maybe, it would depend. I purchase both his books at the same time before actually knowing what to expect. So I would probably be a little more hesitant to buy another one, but not completely apposed to it.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was amusing but not as funny as I would was hoping. I watch his show all the time and I thing the show is funner, but this was OK.

Which character – as performed by Stephen Colbert – was your favorite?

Stephens characters are better than the other readers parts of the book in my opinion.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, not really

Okay, but a bit disappointing

I love Stephen Colbert's show! I think he intelligent and funny. That being said, next to the show, this book is disappointing. It has some funny parts, and I like the premise.
