Publisher's summary

Can life maintain its tranquility in a sealed colony of just over 50,000 people after 200 years? Residents have never seen outside the walls and domes, and many never will. Terraforming may make it possible for the younger generations, but some have tired of waiting, grown discontent with colony life, and have turned to conspiracy theories and sabotage. Truth seekers or terrorists?

Gift Ojo, a 26-year-old full of joy and innocence, is forced to trade her peaceful life for one of chaos. Will she rise to the challenge of protecting her colony despite accusations of her being one of the very saboteurs she must stop? Her faith in her friends, in mankind, is about to be tested by unimaginable circumstances as she fights to save the status quo. But should she?

Dystopian with Contemporary Societal Issues

A colony of residents trapped in a sealed colony for over 200 years has grown more than a bit tedious for some. Fires, computer failures, and more sabotage keep growing in danger. Being trapped and denied the truth about the outside world has allowed conspiracy theorists to grow in numbers to the point that something will happen! Gift Ojo, a slightly naïve 26-year-old resident finds her once peaceful, and joy-filled world shattered as she is accused of sabotage. Yet, Gift and her friends are the only ones who can save the colony before it’s too late!

The author, N. Joseph Glass meticulously outlines the intricate story to ensure clarity of the plot, plot twists, and character development. The dialogue is also poignant and rich, providing insight into the character’s personality and driving needs. The storyline flows smoothly and captures the listener's imagination vividly. As a dystopian novel, it is well done and connects the listener to the storyline. The author presents the issue of conflict between all that is familiar and the growing desire for transformation faced by Gift. The internal struggle is captivating as one waits for the final decision and consequences.

The narrator, Sabrina Pellerito captures the energetic essence of each character vividly in her performance. She speaks clearly and smoothly. Effortlessly she projects the action, emotion, and situation accurately and vividly. She delivers the narrative with a steady and smooth cadence as well as with clarity. She delivered each plot twist with aplomb!

I enjoyed this book as it realistically portrays the contemporary societal issues faced by young adults throughout time. I highly recommend it.
