Publisher's summary

Sexy. Demanding. Cocky.

All words I would use to describe Kingston Avery.
The owner of Avery Capital Holdings - and my new boss.

It was tempting enough working together everyday, but ignoring his wicked promises under his roof was impossible.

But the company had a zero fraternization policy, and things were already complicated enough.

I needed to focus on doing my job.
And avoid doing my boss.

Kingston wasn't just another suit...
He was a cocky suit.
And when the suit came off, he was a man who could steal my heart.

Gorgeous. Attentive. Compassionate.

I just hope it didn't cost me my career.

Office Romance

Won this title as a giveaway prize. Author is new to me. Cute storyline that kept you interested, some different takes on typical office romances. Solid narration! If your looking for a quick, feel good office romance this is a solid choice. I would be open to exploring more titles by this author.

This is an easy to listen audiobook

the male narrator was good - the female narrator was okay - she would talk too casually in scenes that needed more depth.

also, the author becomes repetitive - after some point of time it gets boring - drawn out.

for example - "but you are too big for me" is repeated for several chapters. we get it.

Dog walking craziness

Pria Wang is a beautiful young up and coming executive. Kingston Avery is a high powered suit ho buys up financial business. During one such takeover, Miss Wang was going to fight for all the employees to keep their jobs. Mr. Avery promoted her.
Pria held a small secret, however, Kingston and Pria had a instant connection, but she had a fiancé.
Things happen and Pria ends up taking residence with Kingston and helps to take care of his dogs . One thing leads to another, she meets Audrey and Chance Bateman and Pixie.
Things are going great between them, until Kingston sees Pria with her dad. Things go sideways from there.
Everything starts to even out and a lot of crazy things happen.
I loved this book, and enjoyed the narrators.
I would definitely recommend this book.

Inconsistent and at time unbelievable storyline

Earlier in the book, our heroine arrives home and is surprised to find her fiancés car in the driveway. In chapter 7 she says, they didn’t have a car, fiancé was waiting until after they were married to buy one. What?!
I’m struggling and may not finish listening to this Hero Club; they’ve all been hit and miss.

Listened to the audiobook. I liked the author’s writing style, and there were interesting possibilities of plotlines; but, the characters and story were underdeveloped which made the story feel disjointed. Overall, enjoyed listening - the author’s words flowed well - but wanted more.
Narration too slow to keep my attention - sped it up to 1.6 - 1.8 speed. Could appreciate the narrators' skill more if it was recorded at a more normal speed.

You'll fall in love too...

Kingston - the cocky CEO.

Pria - the new HR Director.

Oh by the way... they knew each other as kids but he doesn't remember. She doesn't remind him, doesn't seem important, she's engaged and just wants to do her job.
Until the day she comes home and finds her fiancee with another woman. Now she's single and homeless.
Through a series of events... Large dogs walking Pria, Her family not looking kindly on a Chinese girl dating a white man, a mugging, snooty secretaries... they fall in love... and fight... and banter...and cry...and love.
I love the narrators, Muffy and Teddy always entertain and bring their all.

Oh my, the chemistry between Pria and Kingston

I had a few problems with this book: the extra-sensitive female character who cries a lot, the Asian stereotypes, the weird introduction of Aubrey and Chance through a dog park–when we already knew the connection with the Cocky Hero Club through Kingston’s friendship with Graham Morgan… And yet I enjoyed this book quite a lot.

First because of the narration. Both narrators are extremely good, and the male narrator is perfect for Kingston. I quite liked this character, by the way. He’s deliciously decadent–the things he does and says to Pria, wow! Also, for once, he isn’t a player, though maybe he’s a bit mysogynistic…

It was also an original couple: the Chinese girl with a modern view inside a traditional family, and her cocky younger boyfriend who loves dogs. It was kind of refreshing in a way. And I looooove office romances–there’s always a sexy scene on a desk somewhere!

And sexy, it was! Oh my, the chemistry between Pria and Kingston. One of my hit couples from the Cocky Hero Club for sure!

Entertaining

I am loving this series as I have found so many new authors to read. Cocky Layne is part of The Cocky Hero Club inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.

I was hooked on the story that Ms.Layne wove from the first to the last chapter. I really loved the main characters of Kingston Avery and Pria Wang. These two have a history and the attraction and chemistry sizzle between them and hard to resist.

This story had a little angst, but it was the banter and the humour that had me laughing so much. It was also a romantic and entertaining fun read that left me with a smile on my face. It was steamy and you cannot help but become invested in the story that Ms. Layne wove.

So many things to love about this one!

While I really enjoy this story. My by FAR...HANDS DOWN favorite from this book are the names of Kingston’s Dog! Those are simply the BEST! Ok Phew! I got that out of my system. I do love these two characters. His secret affection for her is so sweet...it’s delicious! Her attitude and opinions of all things Chinese...cracked me up since...you know...she’s Chinese.

Office romances are one of my favorite tropes. This one is no exception and I will be adding this to my favorites list. I did listen to this on audio. The two narrators did a great job.

I love the cocky hero drop-ins!! Pixie is never a bad characters and I smile every darn time!
