Good ending to a

I suppose I shouldn't short Cecil a star, because his narration is quite acceptable. I just prefer Sir Martin Jarvis as Bertie and Jeeves. This last collection in a series of three (The Inimitable Jeeves, Carry On Jeeves and this volume) is, I feel, the best and a good note on which to end this listening of P. G. Wodehouse. Jeeves, as usual, comes out on top. A very enjoyable listen after a nerve jangling, horrifying Swedish number I won't go into.

More hilarious Wodehouse

Wodehouse is the preeminent author of hilarious books and Jonathan Cecil is the preeminent Wodehouse reader. These are more short stories featuring the brilliant characters of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster.

Can't believe it's still so funny

Jonathan Cecil is miraculously good in this production. Very fine voicing. Hilarious writing. Holds up well over the years

Very Good Jonathan Cecil

As always, Jonathan Cecil delivers an amazing performance of the classic Wodehouse novel. This Jeeves and Wooster book focuses on a various short tales. Including how Anatole comes to Brinkley Court and the infamous hot water bottle incident Bertie refers to in later novels.

PG Wodehouse and Jonathan Cecil are a winning combination

Wodehouse's humor is timeless and Jonathan Cecil's narration is spot on! This is a fun listen.

Spot on narration

Having always loved the Wooster and Jeeves BBC television adaptation, I thought, "Ho!" Why not give the audio book a try? It is even funnier because you get inside Wooster's rather addled head. The narration of this one was hysterical. My husband and I were listening on an airplane and pretty much had to stuff our fists in our mouths to avoid guffawing out loud repeatedly.

I just downloaded an earlier Wooster and Jeeves (My Man, Jeeves) and am not so far impressed with the narration. Hugh Laurie and Jonathan Cecil (narrator here) have apparently spoiled me.

All the stories are basically the same theme, so It's not like one really needs to listen to every single book, I suppose. Hence, I am off, forthwith, to check on more narrated by Jonathan Cecil.

If you could rename Very Good Jeeves, what would you call it?

I think Wodehouse used them all.

Listen closely!

I tried several times to listen to these stories "casually" but would always lose the flow of the story. They must be listened to attentively! Narration is EXELLENT and the stories are good but "stop and go" listening won't get it with these. Each detail must be understood to be able to enjoy the conclusions!

Great stories. Beautifully read.

So many great stories. Ingeniously composed. But I marveled just as much at the exquisite narration (or I should say acting) by the reader, Jonathon Cecil. Thank you for lifting my spirits.

Hysterical and so well-narrated!!

Extremely funny. The narrator is my new favorite. I’ve listened to all of the Jeeves & Woosters now and none disappoint.
