Superb!

This is the best audio I’ve ever heard. The narrator is phenomenal! Wish she could narrate ever audible book I want to hear.

Of course this is a classic, and my favorite of Jane Austen’s novels. Made many hours of long road trips so entertaining. Really brought the story alive! Excellent in every way!!

What made the experience of listening to Persuasion the most enjoyable?

Jane Austen's charm and sharp sense of society's failings and foibles are always a treat for mind and heart. And, I might add, 'ear', when a book is read as delightfully and sympathetically as Juliet Stevenson does here. Austen offers bold portrayals of character in their differing shades of moral and amatory beliefs and connections.

A Must Listen for Every Classics Lover!

Would you listen to Persuasion again? Why?

Yes. This is such a fabulous work, and Juliet Stevenson does a great job with it. I could listen to it again and again.

What other book might you compare Persuasion to and why?

It is much like other Austen novels, as she does have a distinct style and point-of-view. And I think that Stevenson does it great justice. I would compare it with Pride and Prejudice, as well as Sense and Sensibility.

What does Juliet Stevenson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is wonderful for storytelling. She really distinguishes between the characters without being too dramatic. In fact, I think she interprets the characters fantastically. I especially love her interpretation of Anne... so calm, intelligent, and expressive.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A young woman's journey to find her own happiness

Jane Austen Is "The Bomb!"

It has only taken me a lifetime to discover Ms. Austen and her pen, after trudging through dozens of horrid, time-consuming love stories that ALWAYS leave me wanting. How did I know that I should have been looking back to the 19th century for the satisfaction of REAL romance?

Juliet Stevenson is a treasure

Who isn’t familiar with Jane Austen? While persuasion, her last book may be less well-known than some others, it holds it’s own compared to the rest.

I’d like to say a word about Juliet Stevenson. I was surprised to see how many versions of Persuasion are here on audible.com It didn’t used to be that way and I don’t think it’s an improvement. Some of the versions are so amateurish I’m surprised. Audible hasn’t exercised any quality-control. It’s overwhelming to see many versions And there should be a better standards. The audio quality on some books lately have been poor, not to mention the readings themselves. We may have personal preferences but come on, we can all recognize when a book is being read by a complete amateur.

Having said that, you can depend on this - anything read by Juliette Stevenson will be a treat. She is the best of the best, certainly when it comes to classic literature but in my opinion one of the best readers for anything she attempts.

My new. favorite Ms. Austen novel., and I have now had the pleasure of reading them all.

One of My Favorite Books

The story is ageless and written with an understanding of and insight into the character of each person and their situation. I never grow tired of beginning again and allowing Juliet Stevenson’s narration to carry me once more into private conversations, imperfect thoughts and, finally, deep, true love.

Opinion on Persuasion

Wow. Just wow. I was assigned to read this and I’ve absolutely adored it. Wow.

My fav JA novel…

Narrated by one of the best.

I’m sure that there are other narrators that could express the novel as a young women, or any number of voices.

Ms. Stevenson does excellent work on this one.
