One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

nice reading of this version. I may try a different translation at another time to see if some concepts flow a little better in a different translation.

An excellent read with a lot of his sayings based on biblical principles. I will listen to this book again, maybe several times.

This is an amazing audiobook... but you've REALLY, really got to sit down and focus when listening to it. This is the kind of audio that you can listen to dozens of times and get something more out of it every time.

Focus Up!

Marcus Aurelius’ message is clear and timeless: The world is what you make of it. Every interaction you have with the world around you is shaped by your perception of it colored by what fears or motivation you have. This wasn’t a bad listen, although I have seen a version narrated by Richard Armitage that I may try next. Also, this is one where having a print copy would be nice if you like that tactile reinforcement of the lessons therein.

This is a great book to listen to. Marcus is such a humble human being, having all the power and control over other and choosing to serve others showed his greatness.

I really enjoyed it

This book is my way to move about in life and become a better person. I’ve been reading it all year and just finished my first listen. I will strive to become a stoic for the rest of my life.

The stoic way is the only way

Meditations is beautifully narrated here, so it felt like being in the theater of the round, hearing a lecturer in the ancient times. I studied stoic philosophy when I was in college in the early 80's, so this awakened ideas nestled deep inside my cells that have been hibernating for over 30 years. It's incredible to consider the year of his writings was in the 100's AD. There is truly nothing new under the sun and all of the lessons contained within this book will lead you to a happier life now if you apply them.

Splendid performance!
