In rural 1800s England, things go bad for a young matchmaker after she finds a man for another woman. Emma is considered by many to be Austen's finest novel. The book has been adapted countless times to stage, film, and television.

I love Jane Austen and have listened to others that were very good. Jane Leclercq is ok, definitely not my favorite.
There are so very many mistakes here it ruined the listening experience. The amount of line re-readings alone makes this a terrible performance. It is not the narrators fault these weren't edited out, but I wish I would have purchased a more expensive version so I could have actually enjoyed it.
The narrator uses exactly the same voice for every character. Even though I have read this book many times, it made it difficult to follow.
Better reader, actually editing it. There were many, many repeated lines and the reading was so rushed that it made me anxious while I listened, not just through parts but the whole book.
The story was typical Jane Austen, who's other books I have thoroughly enjoyed. I don't think it was the story but the presentation. I'm going to look for another recording.
Definitely not. I have written down her name so that I don't make that mistake again. I am usually a very easy person to please but listening to this book was so painful that I want to warn others.
Narrator was terrible. No pauses between commas or end of sentences.
I had to spend more to get a better narrator
Evidently the narrator thought she could just start over when she messed up a sentence. I love this book but after 15 minutes and 3 restarts of sentences i couldn't take it any more. i don't care if it cost 2 cents......it is overpriced!
Story was amazing as usal from Jane Austen the issue was with the recording. Several times lines were repeated and once it was as if they were turning pages and in sound booth, you could hear it all. Very odd.
Not much variety in the character's voices so sometimes it was hard to tell which character was speaking.
The narration is poor, unedited, and unskilled. There is no attempt to distinguish characters, no understanding of pacing, pause or breath to help the listener follow rapid conversations. I have never given up on an audio book before but this one was so bad I couldn't stand to finish it.
If the editing job was even marginally passible, this would have been an excellent read. Instead, I was lost in repeated phrases, stumbling, missed lines, pages turning audibly, and long pauses. It's like the editor chose small part of the book to work on, and ignored the rest.
No, you should not list this book. It has multiple errors on the narrators behalf in it and in one spot the narrator repeats at least three times before she feels she get's it correct and she even laughs at herself. I have listen over one hundred books and I have never heard anything like it. I think there was an error in posting it for distribution.
Yes I already have, this has been my least favorite but I do believe it was the delivery of the book by the narrator.
Jane's voice was fine but the errors in her reading where the most I have ever heard in any audible book. It makes one think that this particular book was not proofed "listened" to or they never would have posted it for sale. As said above, It has multiple errors on the narrators behalf in it and in one spot the narrator repeats at least three times before she feels she get's it correct and she even laughs at herself, I understand this but it should have been removed before posting. I have listen to over one hundred books and I have never heard anything like it. I think there was an error in posting it for distribution. One has to laugh!
Yes, she was great!
The book is wonderful but at times it sounded like a broken recorded!!!
The reader mispronounced "Mr Elton" as "Mr Elliott" for several chapters and the intonation is consistently incorrect.
It sounds like she doesn't understand what she is reading. Really spoils the story, don't buy this one!
Wish I could get my money back!
