Not Crazy about Jane Leclercq

What would have made Emma better?

Nothing! It's Jane Austen for goodness sakes!

What did you like best about this story?

All of the Austen's books are the best.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jane Leclercq?

Clare Corbett

What character would you cut from Emma?

None

Any additional comments?

Jane Leclercq has a sing-song type of voice. She reads the book and does not fluctuate her voice between the characters. I have found myself having to back up and figure out which character is speaking and what is going on. I will not buy another audible with her narrating. I was lucky to have read this book myself but if I hadn't I would be lost most of the time.

Needs editing

Any additional comments?

There were so many instances in which lines were repeated and had not been edited out that it made listening to this very confusing. I am disappointed to have paid for this. This needs editing ASAP.

Always loved the story ...

But the voice of Jane Leclercq (by the middle of the 1st chapter) began to drone into a monotone with no inflection and when she read from male to female dialogue it was impossible to distinguish the changes in characters ... Didn't last into the 4th chapter !!
My fault for NOT listening to the Sample before buying !!!

Happy story

There were a number of reader and/or recording repeats throughout the story. Otherwise this story was enjoyable and good.

Great narration and story but needs final edits

Great story and narration. Needs final editing as there remains some repeat phrases throughout the performance that should have been edited out.

Poor editing

In several places in this audio phrases are repeated and not edited out. In chapter 31 of the audio, there are multiple errors and in one instance, the reader messes up and makes vocal noises and this is not corrected. I expect more from an audible recording. The reader is quite halting in the reading. In some cases it feels as though she has not practiced--or that she has to do this in "one shot".

Great Narrator, Terrible Editor

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It's a really fun world with a lot of interesting and dynamic characters.

What does Jane Leclercq bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes. Her pronunciations and enunciation's add so much to the experience

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

There are MULTIPLE times when the narrator stops and starts over on a paragraph and the editor does not fix this at all

Easy to listen to

Jane Leclercq voice isn’t pitchy or rumbly. The recording could use a little more editing, however she has done this classic justice

Don't choose this one

This classic is an excellent book, but this recording has a lot of problems. There are others to choose.

weird narration

There were times when the narrator repeated a phrase 2-3 times, almost as if she lost her place while reading. Slightly distracting but didn't take away from the story all together
