Poe at his finest.

Poe’s short stories are amazing, and the narrator brought them to life masterfully. He gave each character a distinct essence. Some characters were present in multiple stories and their vocal tones and speech carried from one tale to the next flawlessly.
Well worth the time and money.

Not Complete

This is by no means a complete collection of Poe's short stories, but it's still a solid reading.

Fan of Poes, not of the narrator

I am a longtime fan of Poe, and this is a great collection of his stories. Bob Thomley's narration is decent. I don't think it was as atrocious as some other reviewers have said, but his upbeat voice often seemed at odds with the dark tone of the stories. But for $3.00, I can't complain.

Long and challenging but hearty and entertaining!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! It's perhaps the best way to get to know Edgar Allan Poe's works.

What did you like best about this story?

The incredible richness and wit that characterizes EAP! While I was somewhat turned off by the complexity of the first stories, once I got used to the increased stimulus of the intellect (it was about time!) I really enjoyed it!

What does Bob Thomley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Bob Thomley's voice, pace and interpretation of various characters and styles are superb! Please forgive him for his french and latin, after all he is an anglophone!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Short adventures by Edgar Allan Poe.

Any additional comments?

If you're looking for something a bit more challenging than the mainstream, yet not overwhelming, this is it. If rich language and delightful reading appeal to you, this is it.
