Publisher's summary

In the first sequel to Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Montgomery's feisty red-headed heroine is now 16 and a school teacher in the small village of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. Although older, she isn't necessarily wiser, and she hasn't outgrown her mischievous antics. She learns how complicated life can be when she takes two new orphans at Green Gables under her wings, meddles in someone else's love life, and learns about romance herself when she encounters the "odd behavior" of a very handsome man, Gilbert Blythe.

audio quality very poor

Thou I like the story and the author, the audio quality was very poor. There were long pauses between chapters (making you feel like it was a book on tape and they were waiting for you to turn the page!) and it sounded like it was taped on a cassette tape versus digial quality. I am repurchasing the title by another narrator other than Shelly Fraser. Do not waste your credits.

I love this book!

This was just as amazing and thrilling as the first one, and succeeds my exceptions completely. I love the narrator and I'm so glad Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote this book.

Timeless and Sweet

Anne of Avonlea is a wonderful timelessly sweet story. It took me back to childhood memories of reading these books and dreaming about finding friends who are kindred spirits and a boy as wonderful as Gilbert. I would recommend this book for anyone that yearns for a simpler time and a heartwarming story.

A faithful take on a childhood classic

Old books can often simply feel dated. While this one isn't entirely exempt, it is also singularly charming and life affirming in a way that one rarely encounters anymore. Earnest and heart-warming without becoming saccharine.

Was a good listen

Not quite as charming as the first book, but the story was good. The performance was good, decent voices and not at all overdone.

The Peacefulness!

I like how comforting this story can feel, but that it is also not completely boring! It is a heartwarming, classic tale, and a book that I will come back to many times!

Anne entrances but narrator not up to par

I love the Anne books. there is a whimsy and magic in them that no narrator can take away. but this narrator I'm afraid was too old for the part of narrating Anne. She could not give and her full expression passion and drama.

Very good narrator!

I am enjoying the Anne of Green Gables series but you have to be careful which narrator you select for each book. This one is great!
