Publisher's summary

Do you want to enjoy the life you are living, even as you face significant life challenges?

Are you grieving the loss of the life you planned?

Is your body or mind failing you?

Can you ever find joy, peace, or fulfillment in these challenging situations? The answer is a resounding yes.

Cristy Maddox searched for answers that were not coming; for a diagnosis to explain her symptoms. For nearly 10 years Cristy and her husband Greg researched and learned about an illness they had never previously heard of, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. An illness affecting over two million Americans and one in every 100 teenagers!

This invisible intruder not only places Cristy at risk but her children as well. Feeling isolated and misunderstood, Cristy grieves the loss of the life she once knew.

But now, Cristy brings her findings and insights to you in this compelling, honest, and often too-real story, providing answers to the many perplexing questions surrounding chronic illness. She takes you on a journey of learning the purpose of hardship, a better way to view pain and how to allow God to recycle it for good.

Are you ready to discover that your greatest joys in life may be hidden in your deepest heartache?

Encouraging!

I enjoyed this book! It had a lot of the author's medical journey outlined and may have been far more encouraging if I had a similar struggle. But overall I enjoyed it thoroughly.

So encouraging, great book

I also have POTS. I am 21 yrs old and have asked why in these recent years that my health gets worse when I’m so young… I also am a healthcare worker- I’ve been an LVN 2 yrs and just graduated with my RN but can’t work full time due to health… I needed this so much Cristy. Thank you for writing about your journey and sharing what you’ve learned—it helps a lot. May God bless you!

Inspiring and helpful

A very inspiring story. Even though this is about living with chronic illness, the lessons the author relates can be applied to any form of suffering. A highly recommended listen.

It was worth a free download

OK book. I could relate to her experience of being handicapped without any outward indication of disability. I rarely use the electric carts while shopping even though I know it's going to leave me in intense pain because of the judgemental looks I always get. Having said that I can't imagine being as timid as the author when dealing with obvious discrimination and idiot doctors who can't admit they don't have the answers so it must be in her head. My wife nearly died after two different doctors treated her like she was a histrionic woman when she complained about "gas" pain. It wasn't gas, it was a tubal pregnancy that required emergency surgery when a 3rd doctor bothered to listen to her. Don't blindly trust doctors. Nobody knows your body better than you do. If they can't figure out your problem right away then too often they brush you off as having mental issues.

My biggest issue with the narration is when she'd whisper a line for effect. The effect was two adults trying to listen to the book would turn to each other with puzzled looks. I also got the impression that the narrator wasn't familiar with Scripture. She'd say "two" instead of "second" which is not that odd I guess, but she'd also pronounce "colon" in between chapter and verse. Pronounce 2 Corinthians 5:1 out loud using that standard to get an idea of how annoying that is.Reminded me of Peggy Hill speaking Spanish on "King of the Hill".
