Athena finally comes into her own!
I really appreciate the mother daughter relationship in this series. it very much mimicks life "outside" the magical realm and lends authenticity to the heart of the story which IS Rosemary and Athena.
Athena's character has firm friendships and she has been given more room to become mature and independent.
the story itself was very colorful and fun as always. not "quite" the runaway train the first 3 books were. this installment has the feeling of laying brickwork, like making the bridge for the next BLAST of stories! not a bad thing!! for me it gave me time to, first of all, CATCH MY BREATH, lol, and meet some of the new cast of characters and enjoy the fleshing out of the current ones! if I can guess anything about this author, she is ready to take the Thorns into OVERDRIVE IN BOOK 5!!! like ratcheting inch by inch up a Rollercoaster heading to the top and getting that GLIMPSE of the DROP BELOW! YIKES! Enjoy the book and catch your breath! on to the next book for me!
